photo inlays?

Can anyone help me find a picture of a custom clay with an actual photo that was used as someone's inlay.

I know they do this sort of thing on some of the casino chips; however, has someone done this as a custom?

Thanks for any help!
Rob

My order from BCC has a photo on it. Just put the deposit down today. I'll put up a pic later.

Re: photo inlays?

Aquaman, I am doing a photo inlay through BCC...

I am going with the 1 3/8" inlay size, and Dave recommended a no recess smooth chip for best photo inlay clarity, especially given my inlay size (same as the fan of cards). He also mentioned that while several guys here prefer the textured, BCC goes out smooth to most all the casinos.

Is this the way you are going as well?

I just became a little nervous wondering if i would be happy with the photo clarity, but its in process now... deposit down.

Re: photo inlays?

We never discussed the effect the textured finish would have on the quality of the photo (although it makes sense). I just told him I wanted textured and that was it--no further discussion about it. My picture is only of the front of my parents' house (it's a gift to my Father), so it doesn't necessarily have to be crystal clear. Also, I'm going with the 1" inlay cuz anything bigger will obscure the horseshoe edge spot.

Re: photo inlays?

Thanks for the thread. This is an excellent question as I, too, am using a photo inlay on the BCC promotion. However, I have not heard back from Mike regarding any finish suggestions. Aquaman, if you have any pictures can you post them? Thanks.

Re: photo inlays?

I'm doing the photo inlay and am leaning towards the smooth finish.

The CTBE's where done with smooth surface. They weren't photos, but artwork. Check out this thread-http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/offici...etup-pics.html

Here are some Paulson casinos with pictures and smooth finish-
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...more-pron.html

Casinos usually use the smooth surface (I have some hard rocks, etc.)

I think the picture comes across a little clearer with the smooth surface. The one worry is that the surface can tend to show rub marks over time. I think you can see this on some of the "The Casino" chips.

I don't think either choice is better than the other...more personal in nature.

Re: photo inlays?

rounder,

Hopefully i am getting this correct, I may have interpreted farther into the "smooth" conversation with Dave than he intended; However, i have no recess and smooth in my mind as my understanding. You have me questioning myself now. I bet it is smooth, but still a recess. im all turned around now... you know how you get one thing in your head so thats what you hear... i may have done that. It makes more sense to have the recess to prevent spinners.

Re: photo inlays?

Here's the inlay I promised. It's actually a picture I took of a carving of my parent's house.

Kmalsom did a wonderful job of putting these together for me. Thanks again Kari.

Re: photo inlays?

A great gift for your father, aquaman. The mock ups look good - great idea! Does your father know he is getting these?

I'd love a surprise custom chip set!... My birthday is may 12th for anyone so inclined
