Chips: 4,648 | | | New Faux Clay Review by Oldcycles Ok here goes.
Weight
I thought being heavier would be better but I was wrong. They should weigh the same, plus I think that will help people with mixed sets. They just did not feel or sound right being so heavy. It was not a good heavy like the samurias.
Feel
They feel so close but seem to have a softness to them. Captn did you get the same impression? Cutting into both the new and old with a knife showed the new were much softer. (it was ugly so don't ask for details, I cried all night)
Finger nails proved the same that the new are much softer.
I don't know how the process works but maybe more compression?
Looks
Well we don't have the new mold and colors yet so I can't say much here.
If the dimple cannot be eliminated keep the old dimple for easy removal.
The new dimple discolors the chip in that area which cannot be covered up or with a label as they are.
Also on the edge is what looks like some kind of kicker mark from machinery which must go.
It is unsightly white mark on about half the chips. Mabye if they were harder this will not show up.
New and old blue were almost spot on so I don't see any problems there.
I really don't know what else to say.
As it is these are starting to look good and with the new mold and a few tweeks we might have a winner.
I don't see any real problems to fixing any of this except the softness and I will wait to here from Joe on that end.
Post any comments or questions.

Chips: 5,913 | | | Re: New Faux Clay Review by me fair enough. Thanks for the review. Seems like if they can tweak the composite material to make them a little harder we'll have a new faux.
If we end up with a recessed mold it seems to me that it would make sense to put the injection mark as close to the middle as possible so you couldn't see it with a label. However I understand that some people might not want to label their faux's so that might not work.
anyway just a thought |

Chips: 92 | | | Re: New Faux Clay Review by Oldcycles Isn't softness good? besides the mold and the injection mark, my biggest complaint with my current faux's is they are so obviously harder than clay. It is the one characteristic that makes them seem more platic than clay. I would like them in most respects (like weight and thickness) to match with current chips, but if the new ones were softer, that would be a good thing. Quote: |

I don't know how the process works but maybe more compression?.... | Too bad, I thought that might be the case. I really liked the FC’s because they had the hard crisp feel of a clay chip.
In fact, it's the most desirable feature of FC's (IMO)
Are the edges sharp or rounded? |

Not as hard sharp as the FC but definetly not rounded. |
