Chips: 1,492 | | | Re: Blue Chip custom question I guess this then brings up the question of why not many people (here at least) use BCC for their customs. With what seems like a TON of edge spot capabilities, and color choices, why aren't there 400 threads about custom BCC's? Do they cost a lot more? Production times can't be longer, lol, so why is it? No one likes the mold?
Back to my original post about ASM offering something that no one else offers, is this restricted to lined up inlays and multiple mold choices then? It appears that with different inlay size options, and more edge spot combinations and color choices, this should be a no brainer, if you don't mind the flame mold. (or don't want to pay for your own)
I'm not bashing ASM or anything, I'm just wondering. Hell, I have an order in with ASM right now. I just never thought of BCC as an option for whatever reason. After seeing the High Roller $100, I wish I would have. The spots on that chip are great. |

1. Artwork charges - I believe they charge $150 per inlay for artwork. You want 4 denoms, then that's $600 in artwork charges over the cost of the chips. Maybe they've changed things recently?
2. Past quality issues - This seems to be a much smaller issue.
3. Access - Until recently, they didn't even have a website and it was hard to track down their phone number. Now they have a website with published prices and such. Gives some folks a better comfort level when dealing with them. |

Chips: 6,227 | | | Re: Blue Chip custom question I have been in contact with Dave over the past few weeks, and they are working on making more color/edge combos available to the public. I actually received some samples on Saturday that made me jump out of my seat.
When I hear back from Dave on the details, I will post pics and such...
Trust me when I say that this could completely change "the game"! |

Those would be hot.
I will definately attest that the meetup chips were fantastic and although I don't think anyone tried spinner testing on blocks of chips they were stacked in 40's at the final table and pushed in/out of the pot with no problem. |

I'd also add that several people have commented on the ASM molds as being some of the best ever. No one has ever commented their appreciation for the "flame" mold on BC Chips. I've also heard that BC clay is harder and slightly lighter than competitors. That means that they can't be "True 11.5g casino weight" chips |

Chips: 256 | | | Re: Blue Chip custom question Also if you check out the Coconut Beach GB, this is a very beautiful chip using the standard size (shaped) inlays. There are various spot combinations and inlay shapes used in this set as well as a custom mold. All this adds up to $55 for a sample set (obviously to cover charges mentioned for custom inlays and probably the mold as well). So in order to get a GB off of the ground you would need deep pockets or a lot of commitments up front. Compare this with the NJ custom GB going on right now for basically the same design of a chip but a cost of $0.35 per chip. |

Chips: 1,707 | | | Re: Blue Chip custom question I posted about this a while ago so here's the straight dope direct from Dave Endy's mouth (a very nice fellow by the way):
Minimum order for full custom job = 20,000 (this would be anything not solid or the stock spot patterns. The $100 chips you mention, which is hot, would be full custom though you couldn't do that chip exactly (see below).
Cost per chip = .80 (I assume for 2 color inlay, though I didn't actually ask). The heavier chips is a bit more but I can't remember how much exactly. Oh, yeah you have a choice of two weights (9 and 9.5+g IIRC or maybe it was 9g and "almost 10", sorry I'm a bit foggy on that one).
He has to approve all spot patterns and inlays, no if ands or buts. He gets last say. Obviously it can't conflict with any casino or anyone else's project. Once your chips are made that pattern and inlay is yours and yours alone.
The flame (aka the shell) mold is the only mold available. I have had another member who is getting a mold made offer the use of the mold for a fee. Don't know how accomodating any other owners would be. From what I understand at least one of the known molds used on a BC chip is not for rent, not sure if lots of zeros could change that option. In any case that's between you and the mold owner.
I think the turnaround time from approval was 8-12 weeks but don't quote me on that, I might be confused. Ok, I'm am confused, that's a given.
When you pick your patterns and he approves, you'll get a sample set to make sure the colors match expectations.
Dave Endy seemed very accomdating and mentioned some ways to work up to the minimum, with the proviso that the minimum must be met.
This information is current within the last 60 days.
There's at least two BC projects (Protege and Rolandshoffs) underway now that it would be a good idea to stay out of the way of. I've a project I've been cooking up but will wait till those two sales are over and done before throwing it out. Anyone who wants to get a brain trust together I'd be willing to listen to and share my ideas. I've also heard rumors, not from Dave mind, about new spot patterns being available to the public but nothing official. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
