View Poll Results: Denom Format: To "," or Not? | |
Use a "," e.g. 100,000
| | 34 | 65.38% | |
No "," e.g. 100000
| | 10 | 19.23% | |
Either way is fine with me.
| | 8 | 15.38% |

Chips: 645 | | | Denom Values: To "," or No ","? I've seen a lot of great custom chips designs and mockups in my short time at Chip Talk, Heck, I've even created my own but one the denom value I don't like to see a "," I'd rather have "100000" than "100,000". Is it me being too anal? I just think it looks nicer. What do others think?

Chips: 2,924 | | | Re: Denom Values: To "," or No ","? I'd only put a "," if there are going to be values of 10,000 or more. If the highest denom is 1000 or 5000, I'd probably leave it out (or leave a small space).
This would really matter if this is going to be a commercially available (or group buy) set intended for international customers. First, you wouldn't want a "$" as many countries have other currencies; second, you'd want to avoid the "," as this represents the decimal place in various languages/countries (including French Canada).

Chips: 5,120 | | | Re: Denom Values: To "," or No ","? Well, if you want to get REALLY crazy, there's a third option - a space.
I never uses a comma, but always a space. I'm not sure if it's a Canadian thing, or a science thing, or both (metric thing?).
I kinda like a seperator of some sort (comma or space) when the denom is over 10 000 'cause it helps my feeble mind sort all those zeros (or other digits, I suppose)... BUT, I would say, do what you prefer. If you don't like commas, or if it looks poor aesthetically, leave them out.
Obviously, the wisest course of action is two make mockups with both of them and have a poll (just kidding..... or not....).
BTW, if you think you're being to anal, you obviously haven't been here long enough. This kinda question is par for the course. |
