Question GIMP - "Curved text help"

I am trying to use the Gimp software to create a better image for my "future" ASM's. Does anyone know how to create "curved text" using Gimp?

Re: GIMP - "Curved text help"

I asked this a while back and never really figured out the best way to do it:

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/custom...highlight=gimp

I spent hours with gimp trying to get it right then I did it in like 5 minutes with photoshop

Actually, Illustrator is your BEST friend. Photoshop is the friend that you call up when your best friend isn't available.

Re: GIMP - "Curved text help"

Of course this is late to the scene, but still..

Xtns → Script-fu → Logos → Text Circle

On the down side, you can't use anything but standard characters...at least I haven't been able to yet. So no ♠ ♣ ♦ ♥ etc.

Re: GIMP - "Curved text help"

The reason Illustrator is best for this is that it is vector-based....meaning it is resolution independent....make your text the size of a building, and it stays smooth, no jaggies.

Re: GIMP - "Curved text help"

When you work in Photoshop, it might be vector, but it all depends on how you save the file. If you leave it as a .psd file with the text layers not rasterized...then yes, it is vector. But you cannot take an image, add text, save it to a jpg on a website, and then expect to later enlarge the image without the text looking jaggy. So, have a working .psd file...and save in different formats for distribution.
