Does anyone use gimp?

I'm trying to figure out how to make curved text but I am failing.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Its hard but doable. This is off hand but bear with me. Go to Utils.. I think then to Logos. then Text Circle. This is the only way I have found of doing it in GIMP

I don't have any option called Text Circle.

The closest I have is Curve Bend under Filters->Distorts which does not do what I want it to.

I'm on the Windows version btw.

The only Utils menu is under Script-Fu and Logos/Text Circle is not anywhere to be found

I'll probably give up soon and find a copy of Photoshop

I use "word art" in MS Word and then transfer the image into gimp. Only way I could figure out how to do it.

I tried designing in GIMP once, and only once. I'm to use to PhotoShop to change now.

I don't know the answer either, so I'm no help.

I use Gimp at home, since I've got PS here at the office. I like GIMP because it is pretty full featured, but the learning curve is very, very steep, especially when compared to PhotoShop.

One other thing I /don't/ like about the gimp, the file sizes. The same size image made in both PS and GIMP, the gimp file will be up to 10 times larger using the same settings.

GIMP has been around a while, and they are improving, I remember the older versions, ouch.

So, they'll get better. There is a whole support-forum somewhere dealing with GIMP and how to get it to act like PhotoShop, but I'm at a loss now as I can't find my bookmark.

There's always GIMPShop. It's a hack, but it works.
I agree, the GIMP has too steep a learning curve; that should be the developers real goal right now, to smooth out the UI before adding more features.
