Starting my custom journey. Need help, please

I might be doing something impossible but it never hurts to try. I've finally decided on my custom setup and need some help from people that know more about this than I do.

I would like to make a replica (as close to the actual chip as I can without getting sued by ESPN) of the chips from the "Colorado Casino" in the show "Tilt".

The only thing I can find is a pic taken straight from the DVD. I've seen samples but I can't find any for sale currently. I've posted the pic below. I'd like to find a much bigger and higher resolution pic. After that, maybe some help figuring out all the denom coloring? I have the DVDs so I'll be flipping through to attempt to figure them out. Whatever I can't figure out, I'll make up on my own.

One last thing, can anyone help with the legal part of this? I have no clue HOW far I can go without making someone mad and getting a lawsuit started. I've always liked the design and since the design is already out there, maybe I can use it for my own home games.

Have you seen this chip?

Re: Starting my custom journey. Need help, please

What I know:

They were made by Blue Chip, Inc using the standard flame mold.
There are only a few sets in circulation.
People who have them don't want to part with them.
People who are willing to part with them want to break them into sample sets and charge a premium.

I think they are cool and would like to have a set of chips that was an actual prop. I can understand wanting a set of knockoffs but I myself wouldn't participate, the lure of these would be the "actual TV prop" angle. I have some "Bluz at the Bend" chips that I'm considering getting permission to make more, fantasy denomination ($2.50 and $10), chips. I would use vinyl labels to make it work.

Obv. ESPN isn't going to give you permission to duplicate thier inlay so you'd have to change it. Colorado's Casino? Colorado Casinos? I don't know if that's legal but as people told me about my Bluz conundrum, "Do you really think the'd prosecute?"

They sure are cool chips.

edit: oh yeah... Parody is covered under the first amendment... perhaps if you made a comical reproduction of the card room or a couple characters it would not only cause no harm, it may be "legal"?

lawyers fees suck though, I doubt if anyone making chips/labels professionally would want to help.

If nobody else posts some before I get home from work, I will scan my sample set for you.

That would be nice. I've been researching this for the past few hours and think that to save time and trouble ... I could just make them myself. If someone will make me just plain clay chips with the edgespot configurations that I want, I'll just get labels made and change the design slightly to prevent copyright infringement.

I'm not sure though what the guy that does the awesome vinyl labels needs in regards to resolution and stuff. Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks for offering to scan them, joshuadalton. That would be awesome!
