Chips: 211 | | | WORD from ASM...... SHOULD I GET EXCITED??
I was told a week 3 weeks ago.
I received this just a few minutes ago: Just got off the phone with production and was told your order is going to press on Tuesday/Wednesday. We will ship to you Wed/Thursday ... told the latest on Friday if they have any make-up on the chips. Thanks, Glenda |

I say: go ahead and get excited. In my order, their error rate when using the word "should" was very high, but when using the word "will" it was much lower. By the time they used the word "will" for me, they were off by only a couple days. So your expectation for shipping should be Monday, with a standard deviation of one day.

Chips: 708 | | | Re: WORD from ASM...... Honestly I don't know if you should get excited or not. The schedule for my chips has been pushed back so much that my excitement for them has been beaten down. Now I'm just trying to forget about the fact I ordered anything and hope the shipping notification email will just show up one day. |

Here is my most recent email thread with them after receiving an email with my invoice attached. Quote:

Does that mean my chips will be shipping shortly?
Please say yes.

Hi Kyle,
Cathy gets the orders from production to run the cc# as soon as they are pulled for assembly. Guesstimate 4 weeks here and 2 weeks in Portland for finishing, if all goes well.
Thanks,

I had heard a few weeks back that it would be another 2-3 weeks and now it sounds like 6 more weeks. How will I survive?
Thanks.

Also, my recent TRK purchase has caused the shakes and sweats to subside for a little while anyways. Hopefully it'll be enough to get me through the next 6 weeks.
Anyone looking for special friend, I've been told I should find one? |

Chips: 395 | | | Re: WORD from ASM...... I see a lot of posts about ASM telling customers that their chips should be done in 2-3 weeks (or any other amount of time) and everyone always says that they never come through in the amount of time that they promised (or anticipated). I'm a business man... And I'm all about setting realistic expectations and trying to deliver better than I promised. There's nothing my customers hate more than when I tell them "two weeks" and it turns into 3 or 4. If it's going to be 6 weeks, say it's going to be 6-8 weeks... it's all about setting the bar... No? Sometimes I tell a customer "that it should be done in 2 weeks but realistically it will be probably 4-5 weeks because of other factors". Most people are very understanding. Don't get me wrong... I'm not bashing pokerchips.com. I've talked to the folks over there twice, once when I was inquiring about a custom set and another time when I ordered samples. Both times they were very helpful, professional and true to their word. But does it frustrate people who've ordered custom sets when this seems to be a theme? I don't see anyone getting really ticked about it. Is it because you have no other comparable alternative? Maybe I'm just not grasping the entire situation. |

1. For the longest time, PCOL has stated that they would not make these types of chips. Finally, they are offering up this option that many of us had asked for for several years. They are being flexible in their business process so we should be somewhat flexible in our expectations. Also, I assume they still have non-CT orders they need to process and jimb had stated in the past that they would fit our custom orders in as they could around other orders.
2. My pending orders is an addon for 220 chips (120 212s, 50 6A14s and 50 4D14s) so I don't expect a lot of attention paid to my small order. I can't imagine any other company doing this small of a custom order but PCOL allows this for existing customers.
3. They are pokerchips and in the grand scheme of things, they are not all the important to get worked up over. Yes, I just did say that.
4. The inconsistent wait periods can be irritating but its not like we have a lot of choice. I believe BC is faster but they cost more and I believe you don't get all the same options that ASM offers; you need to play the cards you were dealt. |
