The bigger problem is when you call for an update 8 weeks into the process, are quoted 4 more weeks, and it takes another 10 to get your chips. When I emailed asking about my order at the beginning of June, I was told end of July, first of August which coincided with my orignal quote time. When I inquired at the beginning of last week, I was told that my chips just made it into production and it's going to be another 4-6 weeks. If they would have told me in June that it was going to be another 10 weeks because they're back logged, then it's no problem. It's when I'm told the week I'm supposed to get them that it's another 6 weeks that it frustrates the hell out of me. |

Im sure that would make the wait a little more frustrating. Here is to hoping that your order is in great shape.

I have to admit, these stories I've heard that are similar to yours contributed (a little) to my decision to go ChipCo. It looks like my post earlier stirred up some discussion. I know that I don't understand ASM's manufacturing process. But I would think that this would be an issue when a company is regularly not meeting commitment times. There are always "reasons". The REAL question is, Why is it that a problem comes up on so many orders? ASM seems to dominate the custom clay market, until a legitimate competitor comes out that threatens their business there is little incentive to address this issue. Lest we not forget, We are only hearing about the issues that ChipTalk members are having, I would venture to say that this is probably a small percentage of ASM's business. We don't hear about their orders that are on time... my point is, our info could be a little skewed. or not, who knows. I always remember this line from the movie "Traffic". I use it at work all of the time... Some people think there's a difference between a "reason" and an "excuse"... There is NO difference. |

You know there's a huge difference between making a custom clay chip BY HAND with perfectly aligned inlays and what is basically spray painting a bunch of pre-fab ceramic blanks. Its kinda like comparing changing your oil or changing your camshaft. Not even close. Quote: |

I havnt ordered ASM chips but as a business-- we know that when you tell someone a delivery day and youre off by a week- it's disappointing.
Off by 5 weeks- to me that's inexcusable. SOMETIMES there are unanticipated delays in production for various reasons- but this seems to be the norm with ASM.
With that said- since it's the norm- they misss their promised deadlines consistantly- so if you order from them and they tell you a delivery date- add 8 weeks to it- when they come in at 5 weeks- tell yourself wow- they got my order to me EARLIER then I thought.
I think everyone agrees- when they DO finally arrive- it's a joyous time--the product is good- so it's just how things are. Still unacceptable to be- but it's how it is.
My two cents |

I emailed Glenda back (she had always been so helpful) last weekend... I still haven't heard from them...
I haven't even placed my order yet! | I emailed Glenda from PC.com and she informed me that the Portland plant was aware that I needed more chips to complete my order, that she thought the No Mold chips samples were ready, but apparently they aren't, and that they should be out this week.
Its not right to complain about ASM without giving them props when they come through too.

I am very HAPPY with your QUICK responses and the customer service that you guys provide via EMAIL and phone. Everthing there is EXCELLENT! As far as having being told this date and then this date and NO CLAY and CASINO orders……………..I really want to say SCREW IT. CHIPTALK is a great supporter of your company and that is how I found out about you. Now with everything that is going on, people are having their PRO’s and CON’s about the delays on their chips. Trust me when I say that I am not the only frustrated customer right now. I do realize that I am getting a product that NOT too many people have the ability to have. This is why I have been patient. Hi John I checked on your order and I asked for it to ship on Monday at the latest. You should have it by Wednesday or Thrusday. But remember that these orders take at least 10-12 weeks from the time the order is placed or the artwork is approved so we are pretty much on time with your order but I will have put a ruch on it for you. Cathy My artwork was approved in MID-END April and CC charged in MAY. |

Just become a CT member. Then, when a player starts grumbling about their order (rightfully so, I might add), they can make sure that that guy's order is next in the hopper. That way, they'll always look like "johnny on the spot" to their customers and the truly patient ones (i.e. the people who forgot that they even placed an order 3 years ago and are still waiting) can get pushed back in production...
man, I'm glad I went to college...

What Cathy sent you is exaclty what I see as the problem.
"But remember that these orders take at least 10-12 weeks from the time the order is placed or the artwork is approved so we are pretty much on time with your order "
12 weeks from the time I approved my artwork was the day they told me 4-6 more weeks. They missed that estimate by 50% so far. Who knows if I'll get them in another 5 weeks.
So, if this is obviously the way things are with them, why do they keep saying 10-12 weeks!?!
It's easy to tell someone that, when they can rush the order out and hit the deadline. For them to do that for me, they would need a time machine. So still, to this day, they are not telling their customers the truth. I don't get it. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
