Chips: 6,240 | | | IF we bought a Hot Stamp machine... ??? Lets assume for a moment we just bought a hot stamp machine---
what is the AVERAGE cost people are paying to have their chips hostamped? We're trying to see if it's feasaable to buy one and start yet another project
Keep in mind shipping of chips etc back and forth-- IF you have chips from other suppliers you want stamped. My gut tells me its a loosing proposition so I throw it out to the masses...
what say

Chips: 30 | | | Re: IF we bought a Hot Stamp machine... ??? I have been quoted $.10 a chip for hotstamping + shipping. I was also told that the chips have to be in mint condition and can't have any dirt on them. I also was told that the oils from our hands can mess up the process. Don't remember what vendor told me all this. They prefer to hotstamp brandnew unhandled chips. |

Chips: 1,720 | | | Re: IF we bought a Hot Stamp machine... ??? Shipping is not too bad. You can use the flat rate boxes by usps and it is just over $8 to ship 1,000 chips. So let's say $17 there and back. |

Chips: 3,049 | | | Re: IF we bought a Hot Stamp machine... ??? I am trying to find someone who can do hotstamping. I have a custom die but no one to put it on a chip. I would pay $60 or so plus shipping to have 500 chips stamped front and back. |

Ah jeez | Hmm, this seems like a problem. How would you know that others' chips could be hotstamped? How many chips typically get damaged during hotstamping, even under "normal" circumstances? Would you just say, "5% of your chips might get damaged, these are unpreventable losees?" These are problems that might happen if you offered to stamp T-mold blanks or ASMs or something. I don't know if there is a certain loss to stamping or not... I'm uneducated, but curious.
I think if you could do .10 + shipping that would be reasonble (for both sides?) - $100 for 1000 chips. Plus dye costs, b/c I bet people would want custom dyes. That might be were you could make money, b/c people would likely want an easy way to take care of it. I don't know. |

Not sure how much the stamp alone would be. And about $100 for a custom die. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
