Chips: 1,137 | | | Protege....All submissions ADDED Sidepot's own submission has been placed here at the top with his comments from other threads as follows:
If you're still contemplating ideas, I've got this one marked "Top designer needed", and am posting it in the "general idea/concept public domain thread".
It's one of the more classic design layouts (small image on top, text line(s) in the middle, big denomination on bottom) that seems to be under-represented in the competition submissions thus far. Obvious nods to the that Condando Beach chip, the Pharoah, and other historically simple chips that share this minimalist layout, which is ideally suited for shaped inlays. This one uses heraldry images (shamelessly lifted clipart , I know, but I'm not a designer and it's just for demonstration purposes and not intended for actual commercial use), and written and numeric denomiation, as well as "Vintage Edition" text. The chips with coins were an earlier version.
Sidepot, if you have this inlay saved in a format where I could easily work on it, please send it to me and I'll take a shot at it. The only problem is that the 3 focused inlays/day should really be made a "Sticky" to keep them at the top. I think Sidepot is out for the next few days and he posted such. We need a mod to stick the focused inlays each day until he gets back.
It would be cool to put some of them side-by-side but a lot of them are changing daily and I don't think you would get a good comparison. We may have to wait until we get to the voting. |

I do think it would be nice to have a sort of running "catalog" of the different designs -- hell, or even a list of the competitors and a descriptive "name" for their design (of course, I suppose that would mean I'd have to come up with a name for my design). It would make it easier to remember whose design was whose at a glance, so -- as one who wants to offer critiques -- you could have an idea as to where you wanted to focus your efforts.
For my part, I'm trying to make sure that I add my thoughts on all of the designs (after all, you never know how a particular chip inlay is going to evolve over the next week -- I've seen some amazing improvements); it may get annoying to some to keep seeing my name crop up, but I'm hoping that on balance, it's easy enough to ignore me. But most especially, I'm making sure to concentrate on the "focused feedback" designs on their assigned days. It may not be as good as a sticky topic, but at least it ensures that the designs are briefly bumped up to the top. |

Chips: 741 | | | Re: Protege question.... The only problem with the thumbnails option (which I fully endorse, incidentally) is that someone has to maintain it. A couple of the designs have changed dramatically since their original submission, so you'd want someone to keep on top of those changes. Not that's it's prohibitively difficult, but someone does have to do it. |

If a mod needed to take control, Id volunteer. Otherwise I nominate Noel or Sidepot (although Sidepots got a lot going on) and then me, in that order.
We'll see what happens....any other volunteers?

Everytime you do an update (not a 'hey let's see what this looks like" update, but an actual improvement update), just save the new update in the same spot online as the last update (overwrite the file). Then the TN's update themselves.. Worst case, someone doesn't do that... at least you can recall the "idea"... For example, Matty's black background Pegasus would still remind you what his design looks like, even thought its nothing like the current design.
My only point is so that you could manage the 23 designs and associate them with the author's name...
