I am trying my hand at designing an inlay and I need some advice. What is the best way to get an inlay into the inlay designer? I am using inkscape, a free vector-based drawing program like Illustrator, to create my design. I save the design as an eps file which I then open in the GIMP to convert to jpg, but whenever I do this the text in the file looks blocky. I increased the size of the original and figured it would be scaled down, but it still looks bad. Any suggestions? Thanks.

My educated guess as to WHY your text is "blocky", is probably because you're using a vector based program to create your design and the text you're using within that program MUST also be converted to text before you output a file ...

Convert the text to an object before you do the conversion. I think that will fix it, but I don't know how you do this in inkscape.
