Chips: 6,179 | | | OTHER then round inlays-- what say Every day we try to come up with new things for custom poker chips- and one thing that has been haunting me to try is the " other then round" inlays ( labels if you must)...
We first noticed the different shapes I THINK on the new Paulsons coming out but caught another glimpse SOMEWHERE on CT on another chip but cant find the post now.
I'm curious-- whats everyone's opinion of
" other then round images" for custom chips?

I like the classic, consistent round across all chips. Just something about the look of th eshaped ones that I don't like. But again, I think I'm the minority because I've seen lots of talk around here from people that love shaped inlays. |

I had some old ASM chips that were all 312s and people told me (in low light) it was hard to differentiate between different chips.
So having this would definately be a plus! |

Makes a chip that much more casino-esque, IMO. True shaped (or punched) "havent been done in 20 years"...
The GB you're referring to is Papazoids Paulsons.
(cant get link to work properly, see Market Place, Papazoids offers)
There are also some shaped inlays to be made In the Condy Comm. GB, but it looks like they will be faux-shaped, rather than true-punched. CONDY GB
In other words, shaped inlays are super cool.

I'm with you though - viva the true punched inlay.

Here's a scanned page courtesy of "A Collector's Guide to Nevada Gaming Checks & Chips" by Herz & Herz showing various inlays that have been available through the years. I really like the various Hub and Scallop inlays as well as the Notched. All are cool though and definitely add to distinguishing a chip from the masses.
I followed the page with a scan of most of the Condado Beach chips showing off nice examples of the Cogwheel, Hexagon, Hub and Scallop.
