Feedback on my label

Hey everyone,

The urge to make up custom chips has finally gotten the best of me, so I've started thinking about what I would like for an inlay. I have always loved the Dunes chips as they were my first experience in a casino. It turns out that they are one of the sexiest chips around to this day. I believe that the mold has alot to do with it (along with my memories) so I decided to rip it off....errr, see what a full set of denominations might look like based off the actual Dunes design, only with different images on each chip.

After playing around with it for a few minutes, I noticed that "Dunes" could easily be turned into "Mikes" and that the art was very simple and stylized. I've had a difficult time keeping things simple, but i've managed a few different inlays and wanted to post them here for feedback.

I'm not fully convinced that I should go ahead with a non-original design, but there is something about them that makes me actually want to dump money into customs.

The original one is the $100 dollar chip, which is pretty much a replica of the authentic inlay, only with the name change and a mirrored, semi-transparent "reflection" onto the bottom of the chip. I'm thinking I might not want to use that one at all and just use it for inspiration.

One thing that I really want to add to them is a counterpart to the flagpole on each chip. I was thinking a windmill, a sailboat....a kite? Something centered on each sun that would break it up just like the flag does on the original..

Anyways, enough babbling..look forward to hearing some comments.

Re: Feedback on my label

They look great! I'd say go for it. People borrow popular designs all the time around here and there have been some spectacular results. Check out this link to say what Jason came up with customizing a borrowed design.

Re: Feedback on my label

spectacular chips!

I don't usually comment on chip inlay images or design. But I really like these.

Except for one thing. That pin and hole on the $100. I say loose the flag and fill the hole. It is kinda orphaned against the other denoms.

But like I said. Great looking chips!

The only thing I can think of for the desert chip is a slightly oversized cactus, perhaps in a darker shade than the others.

The kite would work on the $25 but I'd go with something like a bird sillhouette.

Definitely like the sailboat idea for the $500.

Oh, and the reflection stuff doesn't add anything to the inlay. I'd lose it. These are nice fresh looking inlays. Very nice indeed.

Re: Feedback on my label

Really nice work! I have to concur on the reflection -- not really doing it for me. I find myself wondering what's supposed to be "making" the reflection and not coming up with anything good.

I'd also think about whether you want to change the subtitle from "Hotel & Country Club" to something more personal.

Re: Feedback on my label

I'd say lose the HOTEL and COUNTRY CLUB part. We all obviously know that you don't own a casino and country club. Leave it at MIKES or MIKES ROOM or MIKE CARD PARLOUR.............those types of things. This way it really becomes your own custom chip!

Otherwise, I like the design inlay.

Re: Feedback on my label

I really like your adaptations - I particularly like the $5 chip. My suggestion (although I really don't think it needs it) as a flagpole replacement for the $5 would be a cowboy on a horse, off in the distance.

I think I actually like each of your adapatations better than the original.

It had also occurred to me to change "Hotel and Country Club" to something like "Private Card Club".

Don't know if you want this feedback yet or not - feel free to ignore (well, I guess feel free to ignore everything, actually ). Anyway, I really like the chip colours you choose for the $5 and $100 - but the $500 looks a little busy to me. With such a nice (detailed) inlay I think all the contrasty, eastereggy-type colours detract from the chip, especially when there are 6 spots. I might consider fewer edgespots and/or at least one less constrasted colour (similar to the $25, which I also find a little busy, but not nearly as assaulting). I've noticed by looking at mockups that lots of people disagree with me on this type of thing though, so if you like them, just go with them and ignore me.

Great work, though!
