This is an ABS chip- I havnt cut one to see but I would asume there's an insert since its an injection molded chip. Made using a proprietary machine-
pros.. cost.. although we can achieve better image quality using inlays.
cons-- the backround MUST remain white and only the center can be printed.
We met with the manufacturer of the machinery-- and one person who has the machinery-- the one with the machine had nothing but problems-- misfeeding, hi rate of misprints/rejects so we opted not to spend 45000.00 for this piece of equipment.
Initially we loved the chip-- and the price point- less labor then the process we use now- but its a new machine- expensive- and I cant afford down time if thats the only thing I use to produce chips-
Also- thats the ONLY blank available- period.
I'll cut this chip open later and let you know if there' a slug inside
Joe
There aint no clay in them there chips-- Calcium Carbonate is used in the abs mixture to give the chip-- this blank feels like a typical ABS chip with some calcium carbonate--
ok-- I couldnt wait-- yup theres a slug inside this chip.

If you read their Q & A page, it says that with a custom order you get 150 Yellow, 150 Green, 75 Red, 75 Blue, 50 Black ... if it comes PRE SET for you like that, that doesn't sound appealing at all.
