Chips: 404 | | | Custom chips as drink tokens for a bar? I do some bookkeeping work for a bar on the weekends. A while back, someone asked me whether we could make custom poker chips with the bar's logo to sell as drink tokens. At the time, I didn't know an 11.5g dice chip from a Chipco or Paulson, but looked into it a little and never acted on it.
Has anyone done this or know of someone that has?
The main concern is security - it would be really bad if people were able to replicate drink tokens. With that in mind, will custom chip manufacturers agree not to use our logo for anyone else's order? What should the label include as security features (ie, numbering, 3D graphics, etc.)? Is there any one manufacturer or type of chip that would be the best choice to deter counterfeiting? |

They are very durable and won't be affected by a wet environment (at least as wet as it would get in a bar, anyways). If, when you submit the artwork to the chip company, you make sure to point out the copyrighted artwork, and have the artist's permission to use it SOLELY on your chips, you should be alright. Though we're bound to have plentiful responses in the copyright area........

The full color and full face graphics are great and like bmwguy said, they are extremely durable. If you work with a reputable vendor, you shouldn't have any copyright issues. |

Don’t think any clay chip will stand up to getting wet very often. |

Weve been making these for years for bars and other establishments. A few have us use imbedded security features but most dont. We use UV imbedded ink under the lamination-

WIth Chipco ceramic chips you can have text printed on the rolling edge which is not always possible with other ceramic chips. Chipco also have less texture than other ceramic chips which I think is an advantage here.
I don't think anybody will try to counterfeit a chip to get a free drink. It will also not be legal for the manufacturer to produce other chips with your logo on it without your permission.

I.e. you buy the token at the bar, and hand them to the girls. |

I'd like to see a pic of it. (On the other hand, if you spent the token, you probably shouldn't post pics of that...)
