Chips: 6,182 | | | pure silver or gold dealer button... We're toying with the idea of having a mold we developed which is a dealer button made in pure silver aand possibly 14k or even 24k gold.
The manuf cost is minimal-- meaning we would own the buttons for slightly more then current market pricing of silver and gold. Our delemma is-- is this an item that people would buy... the good thing is if gold or silver goes up-- the dealer button is worth what it cost-- or more--and visa versa unfortunately- we were going to do a pure silver or 14k gold poker chip set for a high end catalogue-- but- again- the cost vs who would buy such an item is arguable.
Just curious as to any opinions

Joe | You might want to check out the gold and silver Pharoah's dealer buttons already being offered through one of chiptalks sponsors. |

Chips: 2,119 | | | Re: pure silver or gold dealer button... My jeweler and his sons are card players... He makes card protectors out of gold and silver for the guys he plays with. They are usually pretty nice.
He'll make silver cards, with gold suits on them. Some guys have gold cards with silver suits. They are very nice.
14K, in my opinion, would be the limit in purity. If you were to use solid 24K, it might be too soft. There might be a chance that even a poker chip would be able to marr the finish on pure gold.
Honestly...I really don't see any kind of market for them.
***THE FOLLOWING IS JUST MY OPINION***
If guys are playing for some serious cash (with a nightly bankroll of $3K-$5K and up) they are going to be more interested in playing cards...and not what *kind* cards, chips, or anything else on the table is.
Taking into account that the average $50 gold coin (which is usually a troy ounce) is much smaller than a dealer's button makes it the fact that you might have to have almost two ounces of gold to make your button. Will someone pay $1000 for a 24K dealer button, or half of that for 14K? I'm not sure.
There might be a small percentage of buyers out there...
I would just like to add, as I said........in my own humble opinion..........I think that the market is too narrow for a product like this.

I can't click on this link from the office, but I am pretty sure that "holdempokerchip" in the market place drop down menu has these gold and silver card protectors. |

you wouldn't be cornering the market.
if you want to make money, stay ahead of the curve, and don't knock other people's products.
good luck. |
