I am working on a set of custom ASM's for the current GB. I have read a thread or two about edgespot pattern progressions. My question is are random edgespot patterns considered bad form as opposed to some sort of progression? Or is this simply a matter of personal taste?
It's personal taste but casinos seem to use more complex chips for the higher denominations- multi-colored edgespots, higher number of edgespots, holograms, oversized chips, etc. So if you want to be like a real casino, I guess you could follow a progression, but in a homeset it doesn't really matter. I like the idea of having a fancy chip for the big chip in a tournament set, and a fancy chip for the main chip in your cash set (the $1 for me).

I have changed my edgespots (and body colors) more than 5 times since I placed my order.
I hope they soon start printing my chips that I can't change them anymore..
At the moment progression beats random..

What is so untrue about that? It's an opinion, for chips' sake.
Sorry to be short before.
Progression is great, if that's what you're into. But casinos don't generally follow any rules of progression; some $5 chips are just as wild as $5000 chips. So if you want a chip-set like a casino use the same method of progression they do: color.
