Hello,
A quick question for those who have experience with custom ASMs: could somebody tell me what's recommended to design an ASM inlay?
- Which size of document?
- What resolution?
- What diameter for the inlay proper?
- CMYB or RVB?
- Other settings in the graphic software?

I believe the inlay size and printable/unprintable area varies slightly by mold. I believe the H mold is 3/4 and 7/8 while the A mold is 7/8 and 1.

-send your artwork at 600 DPI. I am a 3x returning customer and believe me it makes a huge difference.

-try and avoid full bleed, borders, and rings

I would design at scale (7/8" with all printable areas within 3/4") and use a vector based program preferrably AI. Use CMYK and any non-vector graphics shoot for 600dpi.

Not to be a nit-picker but shouldn't that be 600 PPI? (Pixels Per Inch)

DPI is usually related to the printer output and PPI to the file resolution...

(Sorry, but I used to teach classes on this stuff)

I work in the industry (graphic design) and I've NEVER heard anyone use PPI in real life.

DPI all the way for me.

I do believe in CMYK though. B is for Blue (in RGB for example) so black is K.

I'm a nit picker too, and it SHOULD be PPI ... but most people say dpi (even though it's not technically right).

CMYB should be CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow blacK)
RVB I'll assume was just a typo for RGB.

Designing your inlay at actual scale is the best way to do it AND always make test prints of your design when you're close to being done with it so you can then see your printed design at actual size, and then fix/rework what needs fixing based by your test print outs ... designing soley from the computer screen can be misleading, ALWAYS MAKE TEST PRINTS.
