ASM 3D14 Proof

Hi all -

There haven't been many of these posted lately, but here is yet another ASM 3D14 inlay proof. I just approved the artwork.

The colors are:
red 3d14 light green / imperial blue
black 3d14 red / grey
purple 3d14 orange / white
yellow 3d14 mandarin red / purple
pink no spots

I'm waiting for the 212/412/whatever buy to get the rest. Or maybe I'll just go with no spots / 312:

blue no spots or 212 grey as the 25 cent chip
white 312 orange or 412 orange/brown as the $1 chip
green 212 or 312 pink as the $25 chip

I ordered these on the last day of the buy, so they'll be one of the later sets to arrive. But of course I promise to post pics as soon as I can.

Cheers

billm

Re: ASM 3D14 Proof

Just curious, but how long does it typically take to get chips from them? Also, how are they with the artwork? Did they design it for you or did you just send them what you wanted?

Thanks

Josh

Sweet... please do!

Welcome to the forum. I like your design. I'd been tempted to stay with the one side since the pit backdrop looks like it'll turn out nicely.

What's the bkg behind the squirrel?

Re: ASM 3D14 Proof

Josh, I was quoted 12-14 weeks from the order date. My understanding is that this is the standard waiting period for ASM. I went to them with a very basic squirrel design that I made myself using Illustrator. I was going for something like JM's Casino Antarctica chips. But the squirrel just isn't as pretty as the penguin, so I decided to go with the skyline design. I pointed Sandy at some specific buildings and bridges; luckily there is a website with scale drawings of Pittsburgh bridges (pghbridges.com) and another with photos of pretty much every skyscraper in the world (emporis.com). Sandy ran with these, and there you go. I think she did a great job with all those elements. The only thing left from my original design is the font. It took two weeks from first proof to last. We had four revisions.

Fins, thanks for the welcome, though I've been lurking since approximately day one. I too was tempted to go with the city on both sides, but I wanted a reverse that was super-clean. We also tried a large, watermarked squirrel with centered denom, but it didn't look quite as nice. Maybe I'll get around to posting that proof later on. In any case, the skyline elements are:

- The 6th street bridge. Or the 7th, or the 9th; they're all the same.
- Building on the left is the US Steel tower.
- Center building is Pittsburgh Plate Glass world hq.
- Building on the right is 5th Ave Place.

cheers

Re: ASM 3D14 Proof

Very nice design...

Addressing your Q midnyte, the 3D14 chips offered until the end of january had no restrictions on color and spot color choices...they were $1.25 per...it was the 1/4" spot GB that had specific restrictions on the chip and spot type and colors (you could choose from the 12 chips offered in the GB)...but for either the 3D14 or 1/4" chips, everyone placed their own order with fully customized inlays...

hope that helps
