My Version of the Rounders Chips

Ok, so I was a bit taken with the striking simplicity of the inlay design of Teddy KGB's Rounders chips, so I decided to try making my own version. I can't claim origins from Russia, but being from the great State of California, we do have our own symbol of the powerful Grizzly Bear on our State flag. So, using my blunt tool of Microsoft Widows Paint (I am not fortunate enough to have or even know how to use Photoshop), I began my labor of love. Here is how it turned out, and I am even quite proud of it.

Note, the Red Star may first appear that it has more of a Russian theme than the original Rounders chips, but anyone who knows their American History will know that when California declared itself a Republic, independant of Mexico, during the Bear Flag Revolt of 1846, the "lone star" represented the star of Texas which was also in conflict with Mexico.

Anyway, I digress, but I do think my version has similar style to the Rounders chips... But, no, I couldn't stop there! I was inspired and had to take my idea to full fruition. So, I let my creativity guide my mouse and here is the final version.

Quite striking I think. So I think my design is worthy of a custom made chip set or at least some labels. What do you think?

Re: My Version of the Rounders Chips

I really like it. I made my inlay with MS paint also minus the curved lettering, which PC.com took care of. Color grading and complex images don't do much for me. Nice job!

Re: My Version of the Rounders Chips

Nice looking design. Might be a little hard to read some of the text at actual chip size. My only suggestion is to use "Club" or "Casino" but not both. Card Club, Card Room, Private Club, or something like that would work. For some reason having "Casino and Club" seems redundant to me.

Re: My Version of the Rounders Chips

I like them ... I never liked the original Rounders chips ... they're too plain for me (the inlay). Are you getting these made for yourself? -- From where (or self applied inlays)?

Very nice, plain and simply, should make a great inlay for your chips.

1. ASM (or PC.com) made chips for rounders
2. The most famous set is the KGB ones. You can see their inlays on the Chig Forge.

3. Honest to god, if the movie Rounders never existed, the KGB inlay would be the biggest laughing stock of the gambling industry (well aside from the Phil Helmuth chips). The bear is black & white and appears to be motionless. The text is pretty flat and simple. There is no background at all (ok depending on the overall design).

By the way, nice design u got going!

Re: My Version of the Rounders Chips

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions, guys. I haven't decided yet to go with either custom labels and applying them myself or really diving in and getting some custom clays made. It seems like ASM is the only real game in town for this though and I have been reading a lot of posts about their inlay issues and weak chips which makes me worry about spending that much money. I do think clay chips would really make them classy. Ceramics like the BR Pros would look good too but because the design is so simple (which I like for an inlay), the rest of the chip complements the design with edge spots and mold design. On a ceramic chip with the image taking up most of the face, I fear it would be too plain with all that white space. So I think a smaller inlay is the way to go.

Re: My Version of the Rounders Chips

On a Chipco (or ceramic) I think your 2nd design (the one that says The Republic) would look good on the chip face of a Chipco ... think about it, if you're gonna go that way.
