Chips: 588 | | | What's your favorite denom? Friday poll Just wondering what everyone's preference is....
Our home game uses 5-25-100's and the 100's are obviously the coveted ones, but there's something about a stack of those black ones that gets me juiced. We don't even bother coloring up to a 500, we just end up pushing around stacks of blacks at the end.
Oh another tidbit, everyone drinks when someone bets a 100. (it's a loose game)
EDIT: we play a tournament, $5 buyin, T500 in chips, so actually the 100 is a dollar chip. But I just prefer the 100 chip black color.

Chips: 1,997 | | | Re: What's your favorite denom? Friday poll The 100 is my workhorse chip, be it in T5,000 or T10,000. I know using high denoms may be unrealistic, but I have found it is much more user-friendly to be able to work with the numbers 25,100, etc. When players have to fumble around $5 chips or $1 chips, or make change, it can often be difficult. (Attached chip, 100 is the favorite) |

These tournaments often start you with 1500 in chips (probably because its similar to online). For big tournaments however, like the WPT or WSOP, a player gets the same amount as the buyins. The WSOP starts players with 10K which is what the buyin is.
Again, it comes down to personal preference. I just like to get closer to reality when making a huge bet |

Chips: 1,997 | | | Re: What's your favorite denom? Friday poll A lot of the WPT events will start players out with 20,000 in chips with a 10k buyin. The Monte Carlo tournament did this also, with 50k in chips for a 25k buyin. The players get to play a bit looser with such big stacks.
Don't get me wrong I have no problem with playing with the same amount of chips as the buyin, but when our buyins are only $20, $40, or so, no one is real concerned about what size the bet they make is actually worth. |

I found it to be the opposite. But the good side to starting with high chip stacks is the blind structure. If you start with $20, that means you would have to have 25 cent chips. Eitherway, it all works out at the end | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
