my inlay design.. comments?

Ok, first, thanks for all the comments on my other thread.
I'm ordering samples from several places, but I'll tentatively say I'm going with the asm 312's, since I can customize the combination of colors. I do prefer the 1/4 edge spots, but those are apparently all predefined color combos...
so, the inlay...
I think I am going to go with the theme of the football pool a friend and I run- "Zathras & Wubba's King of the Hill Pool. Not exactly poker related, but it is a pretty big thing I'm involved with- we've been doing it 8 years now- we have over 400 players from half the states, and most of our poker players also play in the pool. I think these would be a big hit at my games.. and Wubba & her hubby host poker as well, so she might want some also.

anyway, here is my rough concept- very rough, (done in ms word)... The idea would be to have our name curved along the top, "king of the hill" featured prominently in the middle, and the football, with denom, on the bottom. The color of some of the text would coordinate with the color of each chip...
obviously this needs a lot of work- everything needs to be adjusted sizewise, at a minimum. the football is too big (and not a football). The text isn't lined up right, etc. it is just a conceptual.. but any comments or other ideas are welcome.

Re: my inlay design.. comments?

Great concept...you can't go wrong with custom chips that have a lot of meaning behind them. Based on the amount of text and grapics you're after, you might want to consider custom chipcos. Your current layout, even when tweaked by a designer, may be pushing the limits of what you can pull of on an ASM label. I'd consider dropping the "football pool" part to make some room, plus it's not really poker related or essential to the design and name. People in your pool will know what the name is without seeing the actual text, and people not in the pool won't understand why the text is on a chip. good luck - marc

Re: my inlay design.. comments?

I think I'd go for a two-sided design on that one. Put all the text on the front and then on the back, just put a football w/ the denom in it.

that may be a good idea... it definitely seems a bit busy as is.

Re: my inlay design.. comments?

Hey zath, if you don't mind, I'd like to take a shot and putting something together for this design. I have a layout in mind that might help the idea out some.

Well, here is a little something I came up with. Nothing extravagant, just the basics.

Yup, that's sort of what I was thinking. Only reason I mentioned the football/denom on the back is that it would make the denom a little more prominent.

Re: my inlay design.. comments?

That's good flav... that cleans it up quite a bit. And I like the gradient shading in the background color.
Austin, I see your point on the denoms.. Those denoms might be a bit small, especially when it gets shrunk down to an inch diameter. Maybe about 6 or 8 pts bigger?
I'm not opposed to a 2-sided design tho... (it's only money, right?)
hmmm... overall I like it..

Thanks!

Re: my inlay design.. comments?

Same labels or different labels on the chips, either way you're paying for 2 labels per chip. Why not go with different lables on each side. It'll clean up the design a lot.
