It has been since July 9, 2005 since I last visited this fine site and I'll tell you why. I got my custom Inlay ASM HH Mold chips and was content with life and my thirst for custom chips was quenched!!

I recently had a big game with my chips though (54 people) and found that I was definatley lacking in chip numbers. Sadly half the room had to use my buddies NEXGENS and not my custom chips. That is until we consolidated to the final tables and I had the high denom chips to cover everyone there. I just lacked on the low denom for that many people.

Since my big tournament (which I sadly placed 23rd ) I was thinking of placing another order for more chips to supplement my current ones. This chip mongering disease I thought I had cured has re-festered and I have found my way back to this wonderful site. But now my astonishment and concern and the reasoning for the title of my thread.

ASM point blank had told me absolutley "NO" multi colored edge spots and "NO" spotting other than 3 single color 1/4 inch spots they have been dealing to the public......no matter how many I ordered. And I ordered a ton...1600 chips if if recall right, both a tournament set and a cash game set all with custom inlays and denoms. NOW, since I've been back surveying the chip market I see ASM multi colored spotting and different spot patterns. Can comeone tell me what the heck happened since July of 2005 to change ASM's mind?? Are the colors and patterns just for the group buys????...or can anyone get them as long as they order enough chips?? I've searched different threads and I can't seem to find an answer to this. I checked ASM (PC.com) and they still advertise only the 3 1/4" spots.

I'm guessing there are probably ASM folks that scan these discussion sites also. Please either respond to this thread or E-mail me. I would definatley be interested in adding multi-colored spot and varying pattern chips to my current set but would like to pick colors other than those in the group buy so that they better match the current set I have.

Well it was a special deal that Jim Blanchard offered for a limited time to chiptalk members after we begged and pleaded for it.

Unfortunately, today was the last day to order the special edgespots/patterns (they started in late november and mid december).

Talk about bad timing; you must have really pi$$ed off the poker gods.

Don't be too upset, they've been telling everyone that even as late a Oct/Nov '05.

There were actually 2 buys.

1. A roll your own 3d14

2. Set of 12 varying 1/4" (214, 414, 614) style chips.

A friend of mine also wrote me tonight horrified that he missed out on this as well. I referred him to ASM last year and he had 2000 chips made after he got a sample of my Palmas. I sent him a copy of my chip design tonight and he almost had a heart attack once he found out about this a day late! My fault. I thought with having around 20,000 chips on hand that I didn't need any more, but this custom chip design concept (chipfactory and chipforge did me in) and these insane chipaholics here and all these cool designs this week just put me over the edge so I ordered my own set of 1000 new chips today as well and all of them 3d14. Now I have to start selling some of my overstock so I'm ready for the next group buy...please please please Jimb

Thank You all for the responses. I'm not as sore now that I see the multi colors and patterns were only for the group buy. It does sting a little knowing I missed the group buy by a day (WHAT ARE THE FRIGGIN ODDS!!!). But....I'm not that upset because I would have picked different color combos instead of the 12 offered so that I could match my current set more closely. Thanks again for the responses, and if anyone hears if ASM will start to offer different patterns and multi-colored spotting on a "per customer" basis, instead of as a group buy, LET ME KNOW!!

FWIW I approached ASM a couple of years ago about doing one buy of 20K chips with variable spots but was turned down flat too. This GB was just about some unusual largess on the part of ASM, specifically JimB there, and lucky timing. As I said numerous times, seeing the variations and the fighting and gnashing of teeth that went on here I realize why they don't make it a standard offering. That's outside of security issues too.

I have never done a post with an attachment so I hope this works. I went with an outdoors theme for the tails side of the chips. The heads side design I created myself and Bob from PC.com made it a reality.

First two rows are my cash game set .25 through 2. 5's sometimes find their way into my cash game too.

Other rows are tournament chips 5-5,000. We usually start with 1,000 apiece for a buy in with 5 and 10 dollar blinds. Allow, unlimited rebuys in the first hour and 1 add-on at the end of the first hour.

Some may question the 2 dollar chip in the cash games and the 10 and 50 dollar chips in the tournaments sets. All I can say that is in my desperation to have ASM allow me multi-colored spots and different patterns I instead augmented my set with a few unique chips to add color and variation. Hope you all enjoy the pics if this works.
