Inlay Indecision

As some of you know, I've already submitted my inlay to PC.com and it was approved. The problem is I have some commitment issues with the design I approved. Those damn wait times give you too much time to think and over analyze something. I've seen some of the other inlays folks are working on and I think I've come up with simpler version of mine. I'm thinking of contacting PC.com to see if its too late to change my inlay. None of the chips are changing at just the inlays. Before I do that, I thought I'd poll folks opinions.

A - Original Approved Artwork

B - New Artwork

Any thoughts?

Re: Inlay Indecision

Tough call...I think I like elements of both:

- I like "The House" better than "House". Besides liking the term better, I think it looks better on the chip as well.

- I like "Cardroom" better than "Private Cardroom"

- Initially, I liked the colored "H" and black numbers, but have changed my mind. I like the colored numbers and gray "H"

- I'd suggest looking at coloring little graphic on the side on the side of the numbers to compliment one of the edge colors...see how that looks (kind of like the way the colors you used in the original design were the same as the chip color)

- Another thing to look at is to color the "H" as compliment to an edgespot color (instead of gray). This may not work...hard to visualize and know if it works with the colored numbers, but worth trying.

- I like the new graphic by the numbers better than the original one

- I like the 3 dimensional look (shading) of the H in the original version. Can you do a good looking 3 dimensional gray?

Re: Inlay Indecision

I like them both ...."B" a lttle beter than "A". Personally I would leave the "$" symbol off so you could use them in small cash or tourney games. Brian

Re: Inlay Indecision

I agree with both of the above to some extent. I'd leave off the $ symbol and go with 'The House' for the top text and just 'Cardroom' for the bottom text and do it on inlay B. I don't think you need to do too much more with coloring the graphics, or the watermark. Simpler is sometimes better. Maybe if you embossed the watermark on the B inlay it would make it more 3-D like it is on the A version.

Re: Inlay Indecision

I think you should keep the original.

The dollar sign makes the denomination look horizontally off-center.

Re: Inlay Indecision

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

My issue with the first one is that it appears to be much busier than the second one. I like the simplicity of the second one more but I also like the "The House" and "Private Cardroom" aspects but those are also the elements that add to the busy-ness of the inlay. I also like the colored denoms better than the colored H. As for the dollars signs, I like them on the denoms as this will be a cash set but they do make the denoms look unbalanced.

Frustrating

Re: Inlay Indecision

Well if you want to keep the $ on the denoms, then what I'd do is make the size of the denom a little smaller and center the numbers on the inlay and have a smaller $ on the upper left like it is now. I think it will look more balanced then as long as you're not crowding the text with the $. That's what I did with mine before I decided the $ was unnecessary.

I prefer the "$" and don't think it makes things out of balance. Its certainly not noticeable on the 1, 5, or 25.

Now if I can only come up with my own inlay idea! I'm brain-dead on that but seem to have made good suggestions on this one.

I think this advice is on the money. Center the numbers and then add in the "$" on the upper left of the centered number(s)...

I would like to see this with "The House" arched more like it is in Option A. Perhaps with the same exact size/style font as the word "cardroom". I would also add back in the "$", but follow JM's advice when doing so.
