ASM inlay idea **EDIT: NEW PICTURES 1/13/06**

EDIT: new stuff here

Here are a couple of other ideas and some background info. One suggestion was to incorporate other hobbies as a theme. Well, I've been a homebrewer for about 10 years, and have a fictitious brewing company called Brown Spider Brewing Company (B. S. B. C.). What better combination than beer and poker?

Anyway, I have used the spider on bottle labels I've created in the past, but I found the labels to be too busy to transfer into an inlay. Again, I'm trying to stay relatively simple and classly, but I guess you could make an argument for the spider not being classly....only creepy.

Theme #1

Again, The Tap Room is just some made up stuff. I wanted some reference to BSBC, but kept running out of room.

Theme #2

I'm aware this says Poker Room and not Card Room (like Theme #1).

Does anyone know how much fine detail ASM is able to print? I think I may be spending too much time on subtle details (shading, gradients, etc.) that won't make it to the final product.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!

I just wanted to throw out an idea and see what kind of feedback I get.

I'm concerned that the concept is too simple for a custom set. I will be getting more colors, but right now I just wanted to spend a little time doing a mockup for only a few colors.

I don't want an overly complicated design, but it's hard to come up with something that is simple, yet classy/timeless. If I'm spending the money for customs, I don't want it to look like it was hot-stamped or had homemade stickers applied.

By the way, the letter "P" is for my last name.

Thanks!

Re: ASM inlay idea

Not a bad design, simple, yes. But I wouldn't call that "P" font classy/timeless... Its more comic stripish...

JMHO...still looks good, tho.

Re: ASM inlay idea

Here are my suggestions and things you should keep in mind:

1. Do not do a full bleed
2. Have white ground
3. Have denominations on both side
4. Keep it nice, simple, and classy. You want something that will not "AGE" over the years.
5. Keep in mind that the inlay is 7/8" but the print area is only 3/4".
6. PC.com prints are more often "NOT" centered and therefor you want to avoid having any details that will show this imperfection (borders etc).
7. I normally prefer having an initial or your name followed by "poker lounge" or "pokerroom" or "cardroom" etc. If there is still space left you can have a small art work.

These advices are thru my own experience and what ive seen from others. You may think right now that there are way too many restrictions. Im not gonna lie to you, PC inlays have lots of restrictions on what they can do (that will turn out nice). They will still look good, you just need to work around it

Re: ASM inlay idea

that being said, it think you need to change your text to something alittle more formal as this one look very toyish. Just keep playing with it and post mock-ups. Take your time

Re: ASM inlay idea

Thank you Wedge and v. rounder. You are right, the "P" is cartoonish. I have another font in mind that will be more formal.

Thanks also for all the other suggestions. I'm glad I haven't gotten too far along because some of the other ideas involved text encircling the border, etc..

I will also have more time tonight to read other threads about designs and ideas. I'm sure I'll pickup an idea or two, along with some duds.

Thanks again.

I'm still open for comments or ideas on this initial try.
