Chips: 177 | | Sample Sets(s) Curiosity Help Ok guys and girls, I've been on CT for a little while and love it. However, I don't know if I missed the boat or something on this concept but "Why is it that so many of you order sample sets of other member's custom chips?"
I mean I can understand collecting old "real" casino chips for collections and maybe for investments. (I don't know the value of old chips. Although I did see one on here one time that was going for a few grand. ) Also, it's not like you can't get samples of ASMs, NJs, Chipcos, etc from the vendors. So, I can't see people ordering sample sets just to check out the quality of the chips because you can get them from the vendors.
I would like to do a poll but I don't know the reasons why. So, why do you? Help me understand. Thanks | | Sponsored Links | |

Never enough, get all you can, picture stacks of cheques up to the cieling, and that's still not enough for some of us.
Any more questions? |

Chips: 1,340 | | | Re: Sample Sets(s) Curiosity Help I have ordered a few, though not one from every set that's been offered. I don't order them for any future perceived value, as I don't intend on selling them. They're for my collection and are just for my own interest. So I pick ones that I find unique, or have a well-thought out color scheme or just because they look 'cool'.

I've been sealing them in Air-Tites and frames to spruce up the room. Plus with my secluded location in Alberta, I know that nobody else will have them so they become a conversation peice. |

Also, many were brought here for ideas/improvements so you have that tie also... need more chips is kind of a mantra around here

Chips: 9,298 | | | Re: Sample Sets(s) Curiosity Help 1 - Chips are cool.
2 - Like Finns said, we have seen many of these chips develop on the board.
3 - Chips are cool.
4 - It gives you something to look at the next time you start designing custom chips (whether you actually buy them or not).
5 - chip are cool
6 - It annoys my wife when I get "another package of stupid poker chips."
7 - Did I mention that chips are pretty cool?

Chips: 3,270 | | | Re: Sample Sets(s) Curiosity Help Since joining this forum I have become a chip junkie too.
I am also a collector (of many things) so although I would love to have full sets of all the great chips that are conceived, developed and utlimatly made, my bank account and the silly desire to remain married prevent me from doing it .
The next best thing (for me anyway) is to get a sample set. Some of the designs do become available commercialy but many are available only during the GB so if you miss it you probably won't be able to get them in the future.
I have actually started making frames for my sample sets to display and decorate the walls in my game room. It's starting to look real nice as my sample collection fills out.
