Chips: 196 | | | Hill Valley Hotel & Casino Custom Inlay (CRITICISMS/COMMENTS PLEASE!) I posted a few weeks back a rough mock-up of an inlay that I created in MS Word. Now, I have downloaded Illustrator and played around with it a little yesterday and this morning and this is what I came up with. The inlay is inspired by the movie "Back to the Future". The building at the bottom of the inlay is the clock tower, and the two statues and clock at the top of the inlay are what is at the peak of the clock tower in the movie.
* I have printed out a sample in the correct size for ASM (7/8") and it looks pretty good to me in regards to the text size...I may want to may the smaller text a little larger, though.
Any comments/criticisms are needed.
---Does the transparency look okay? More/less transparent?
---How about the font?
---Any thing I should add or remove? Is it too busy?
Thanks guys.

And then I saw your next post. You could possibly bring the building down just a touch more and put the clock back at the top - I kinda liked that.

Chips: 196 | | | Re: Hill Valley Hotel & Casino Custom Inlay (CRITICISMS/COMMENTS PLEASE!) Thanks John....I printed the one in my first post out and held it up to a Pharaoh chip and it just seemed too busy.....That is why I did the second version.
I am messing around with it still, so I might post another idea a little later

I like the 2nd version better, but I think the bottom text is too low if that inlay is 7/8" across. You can only print on 3/4" of that 7/8". I'd move the building down slightly so the V is centered between the top of the stairs and the point where the columns meet the roof.

This is a great idea for a chip. However, if you really wanted to authentic, your casino name would be a little different.

Chips: 196 | | | Re: Hill Valley Hotel & Casino Custom Inlay (CRITICISMS/COMMENTS PLEASE!) Thanks everyone for the comments. I will make the changes that you mentioned JM (this will be an ASM inlay).
ddollevoet: Funny you mentioned that because it was my first idea for a Back to the Future themed chip. I just decided I wanted a more classic looking inlay, but thanks for mentioning that. Those are much better pics of the casino in the movie than I could find, btw.

I am a huge fan of Back to the Future also though, so I guess that really helps out when deciding which chips you like!! I would even consider putting a DeLorean on the reverse side of the chip, but that is just me. |

Chips: 196 | | | Re: Hill Valley Hotel & Casino Custom Inlay (CRITICISMS/COMMENTS PLEASE!) Thanks for the suggestion....I e-mailed PC.com to ask about different inlays on opposing sides of the chip, they should e-mail me back early next week. I'm assuming that would be extra in the art charge, since they are offering us free basic art (I'm planning on buying 400-500 in the special spots buy).
