Chips: 28 | | | Traditional colours G'day,
I love this site and have spent far too much time reading it. However I still haven't come across all the info I need to design my chips. Here's my plan and my questions.
I want a custom "clay" chip set with the following breakdown.
100 x $1
1,000 x $2
200 x $5
60 x $25
40 x $100
Total 1,400 chips.
From what I've seen I would like to get the ASM with the horse head mould. (will get samples before proceeding)
I will get someone like Lynbark to do the design.
I am a traditional sort of person and I want to follow the general conventions as far as colours and edge spots go. The $5, $25 & $100 chips will be in red, green and black, that's easy.
What are the most commonly used colours for $1 & $2 chips? My local casino use white and grey.
I like edge spots and want them on all my chips. My understanding is that you start out with the bare minimum and get more extravagant as the denominations increase. Taking into account the generally available options and the group buy options, what quantity and size would you suggest for my set?
Is there a website or somewhere here that discusses traditional colours?

blueonedollarians believe that blue is the only colour that could be considered for the chip workhorse and anyone that says otherwise should be shot, burned at the stake or at least laughed at for periods no less than three days.
whiteonedollarians believe that any other colour than white for that most saintly of chips is blasphemous and, although will be forgiven in this life, will condemn the blueonedollarian to burn in eternal hell.
Either is fine, I am sure. |

Anyone with any sense knows that the whiteonedollarian religion is completely absurd. forever!!! never!!! |

The amount of $2 chips you want made me wonder.
If the $2 chips are to be used alone, then you might take that into consideration when picking edgespot designs.
I don't know what color is most common for $2, but I'd pick chocolate, orange, or yellow. |

Chips: 28 | | | Re: Traditional colours Werny,
thanks for the link. I have had a quick look and it appears that blue is the popular choice for $1 chips. I haven't seen many samples for $2 yet but will have a good look a bit later when I have more time.
As you can tell $2 is my main chip.
We generally play a 4/8 cash game, sometimes 6/12. I like having a lot of $2 chips in play because I hate people having to make change every time they put a bet in.
At the moment I'm considering getting the $5, $25 & $100 on the group buy if they look OK. Hopefully with the 4 edge spots. Then I would make a seperate order for the $1 & $2.
Time isn't critical except for getting in on the group buy before it ends.

Chips: 28 | | | Re: Traditional colours Thanks for the advice. As you can see from my designs I have taken it on board. I am still not 100% decided on the $1 chip, even though I won't use it a lot. Am leaning toward the white but haven't ruled the blue out yet.
From left to right chips are $1, $1, $2, $5, $25, $100
Now having second thoughts about the horse head. Better see some samples. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
