It's your set, and although I wouldn't, there are worse things for you to do with your money.

I think it looks nice and would consider it myself.

How dare you post such an awful idea here?!

Chips: 4,436 | | | Custom Chip Heresy? With ASM's recent announcement, this is probably not a good time to ask this, but I'm curious. I've been obsessively trying every color combination I can imagine for a set that I anticipate ordering in the spring. It just occurred to me that I never looked at the option of plain chips without edge spots (with a custom inlay). I mocked it up and it looks pretty nice and classic to me.
So, what do you guys think of a full custom set without any edge spots?

Chips: 828 | | | Re: Custom Chip Heresy? That is what I am going to do when I build my roulette table. Solid color with no edge spots no demon with a custom an inlay (or maybe just blank with no inlay).

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: Custom Chip Heresy? It is still not uncommon to encounter chips without edgespots. I thiink people are more inclined toward chips with edgespots because that is what the see in use on the main floors of casinos, and for the younger types, it is what they see most on TV. Additionally they do add esthetic appeal to the chip. The spotted chips do cost more, and they were originally introduced in the casino environments as a security measure.
As poker coverage on TV expands and more venues (outside of Vegas) are covered you begin to see more and more unspotted tournament chips in use in casinos. For the WPT fans, you'll often see that the East Coast casinos often use unspotted chips for their tournament chips and one of the Nevada WPT venues, the Reno Hilton, also uses an unspottend NCV chip. More recent shows includes the currently running Monte Carlo Millions series which also depicts unspotted chips in use for their tournaments. |

That plus the aesthetic element make it the only choice for me (with the exception of super low fractionals where I don't really give a crap). But it is your money. |

If the chip itself is nice, most thoughtful combos, or solids, are fine. |
