Chips: 3,406 | | Chipco / NJ Blanks Can anyone point me to the reference of weather or not Chipco and NJ are created from the same blank ceramic puck?
Or, more specifically, does NJ make thier blank ceramic puck, or are they using a Chipco blank to start with.
I had always been under the understanding that, (read somewhere, thought, heard, understood otherwise) NJ simply took the Chipco blank and printed thier NJ (or any other NJ creation, Desert Sands, etc.) on it.
There seem to be 3 contenders in the ceramic market at this pount, Chipco, NJ and CasinoTek. Do they each create thier own blank, or are they coming from the same root manufacture? |

If I was to guess, not based on any factual knowledge just having handled them all, it seems the bases are different for each. The Casino Tek ones are certainly much lighter and have a different sound. The NJs have that face cover so I don't know what that means as far as composition of the base "puck". |

Chips: 606 | | | Re: Chipco / NJ Blanks The weight of Chipcos and NJs differ with at least 0.5 g so it is very unlikely they use the same blank. I haven't got any CasinoTeks so I can't say anything about that one.
The BR Pros from Ace High Supply are even lighter than NJs so that's also a different blank.

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: Chipco / NJ Blanks I know that Chipco sources their own polymers and makes their own blanks. Given the nature of their business and the security requirements that they have to operate under, it's not likely that they'd be sourcing the blanks anywhere. Besides the NJs sound and feel entirely different, and they're easier to break than a Chipco. If Chipco does manufacture the blanks for NJs, it's an entirely different formulation than what you'd find in a Pro Tech chiip. Don't know anything about the Casino Teks or the other variations, but as this blank seems to be popping up esle where, I'd suspect that there may be a more generic source for these. Quote: |

Chips: 3,406 | | | Re: Chipco / NJ Blanks This is all great conversation, however I'm curious to know where all of the information is coming from? I hear those saying they are different, they are this quality. that feel, such look, etc. etc. etc. however there is nothing that clearly illustrates this. (at least that I can track down). I (again) was under the impression they were made by the same manufacture, however this may be wrong. I've been told by others that they were in fact from the same manufacture of the blanks, simply different quality. However what I'm hearing now is that is not true.
Is this best educated information, or is there a particular and difinitive reference to the information?
I'm not saying anybody is wrong, and I do value the input, I'm simply looking to better understand the facts, versus "street knowledge" of (ceramic) chipco, versus NJ chips. |

Even if it wasn't for the fact that mspatton (a highly reputable chip vendor) said so a couple of appends above, I have a chipco chip and an NJ chip in my hands now, and I can tell you that they are entirely different. Other that the fact that they are both round and ceramic (as opposed to compressed clay) there is nothing similar about them whatsoever.
If its so important to get an answer that you feel you can definitely trust, you should really approach NJ and chipco directly. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
