Chips: 78 | | | Asm solid set I have decided not to go with an edge spotted asm set, it is too hard to choose which edge spots on which body color right now, and 55 cents right now per chip is a little too much. Thus, I have decided to go with the Asm solids, at 40 cents/chip, and I have pretty much decided on colors of pink, imperial blue, and gray. I don't know if i should get a fourth chip, and if I do, I don't know whether or not to go with a brighter color (for instance--yellow) or a darker color. The yellow doesn't seem like a bad choice for a fourth chip, so I may get it. Would yellow compliment my other choices or not, and how does yellow look as a solid chip? |

Personally, I think I'd go with orange instead of yellow. It's also darker than you'd expect based on the images on pc.com, but I really like how it looks along with the grey and imperial blue chips. I have a set of plain ASM chips myself, and they look great.

Would yellow compliment my other choices or not, and how does yellow look as a solid chip? | After seeing solids being used in several tournaments on TV and after receiving my ASM samples from pokerchips.com I also made the decision to go with an all solid, no label set. And I don't regret the decision for a minute.
I used the samples to spend a lot of time thinking about which colors I wanted. I would pull out 3 or 4 different colors and see how they looked together. I'd actually leave these mini sets together for a while to see if the color combinations grew on me, or whether they ended up being annoying after a while. Well, none of the combinations was truly annoying, and the more I handled the ASM chips the more I loved them.
Here is part of my set, showing the colors lowest to highest value, left to right.
As you can see, I've included the yellow that you were asking about. I think it and the orange are fantastically warm colors. The white is, of course, not really that white at all. It's more a of a bone color that looks antique the minute it arrives. I love it. It's probably my favorite of the colors they offer.
I had originally taken a high res scan of all my samples when they first arrived, so I went back to that image and created a new one showing the colors you're thinking about. I'm not sure if this will help or not, but I thought it might give you another view of how they might look together.
I think the yellow actually looks just fine with the other colors you've picked. I have to admit I'm not a fan of the grey, but color is very subjective, so if you like it then it's the right one.
Sorry for the slap dash cut and paste, but I think it at least gives you an idea what they might look like.
Best regards,

Play around with it.

Chips: 501 | | | Re: Asm solid set The orange is a darker colour as well, but it still looks nice. I'd really suggest getting samples of each of their colours, it makes it much easier to play around with colour combos when you have the actual chips in front of you. The Chip Factory thing X-Files is also a good resource, and does match up the colours fairly well, but that would also depend on your monitor settings.
