$500 chip color?

OK now that I'm getting closer to a finished inlay for the ASM's.
I need opinions on a color for the 500 chip. I was thinking lavender with dayglo yellow, but I'm not completely sold on that color.
I purple the traditional color for the 500 and if not what is? Is there another color that is used alot for 500 chip?
Rest of the colors in the set will bet traditional red (5), green (25), black (100).
What to do with the 500?

Re: $500 chip color?

Purple is the most standard color. Go with whatever you think looks best. Orange, yellow, grey, chocolate, pink are all good candidates for body color.

Re: $500 chip color?

Lavender or purple would be the commonly used colors in many US casinos, kind of an unofficial standard (except in New Jersey where it is mandated by the gaming commssion). That doesn't mean that a casino can't use another color (again other than in NJ). One of our local cardrooms uses white for their $500 chip.

Re: $500 chip color?

if plane to keep the 500 the largest denom them i would go with yellow, but if u are thinking of adding a 1000 chip in the future then i would go with the purple

Re: $500 chip color?

Purple or lavender are typically used and is what I would go with but it is your custom set and you can make it whatever color you want. Check out the custom chip gallery for different color combinations of ASM chips and use your favorite. Purple/pink and lavender/white would be the two I would have to decide between.

Re: $500 chip color?

I like purple/white quite a bit. I'm not a huge lavendar fan and unless your other chips are bright and shiny purple/pink is too much for me.

What to do with the 500?
I have a set of ASMs with both a black chip and a purple chip. While I like both colors, IMO the purple chip is difficult to distinguish from the black chip in moderate-to-low-light situations.

I've ordered completely custom chips from ASM to replace my current set, and instead of purple I chose lavender for the body color of the $500 chip. I did this purposely to better distinguish it from the black chip.

I was lucky enough to be able to order 3D14 edge spots, so I chose white and gray as edge spots for this chip. If I were restricted to 312 (three 1/2" edge spots) on lavender, I would have chosen gray as the edge spot since I didn't think any of the other colors would compliment the lavender chip color very well.

Hope this helps.

Re: $500 chip color?

What plz said. Purple's too close to black.

And I hate lavender.
So, not much of a suggetion here, is there?
I would be intrigued to see a gold body / black edgespot chip.
Looking at obsolete chips, I see no consensus on colors for certain denoms.
Who's to say what the norm will be two decades from now?
And it's your own set anyway, so go with a color that YOU like, as long as you can tell when it's slapped down on your table next to a black one.
