How much difference should there be (Custom) PC.Com Chips?

While playing one of the home games we do I noticed that some of my PC.com customs were WAY off as shown in the pictures below. I used 3.3mm (.1299") as the standard which would be the middle set of 20 chips.

Of the 1000 chips I ordered about 280 of them are what I would consider in spec. between .129" to .131" the other 700 or so vary between .124" to .138"

I am not too happy about this as I think $1000 worth of clay should be a little more precise. I will call PC.com on Monday but before I do I would like to know if what I want is out of line or is this just normal and something I should just live with?

Thanks,
Rick

whoa, that is bad. I would be very upset if my chips were off that much. I wouldn't accept that in any set, even the cheap dice set.

It is important to me to have them all stack evenly. I would rather have cheap 11.5g chips that stack evenly than real clay that is off.

In your pictures do you have all of the thinnest in one stack and the thickest in another?

Yes Lumpy I do. I have them sorted out and the extremes are on the right and left.

Re: How much difference should there be (Custom) PC.Com Chips?

The difference in thickness is unaccpetable. One of the things you're supposed to be able to do with chips is stack them off which you can't do if they're all different thicknesses. I had no idea they were so far out of whack.

Re: How much difference should there be (Custom) PC.Com Chips?

Wow! I am kinda new to all of this (custom chips), but I would personally see this as unacceptable. I am very surprised by this after reading for months how happy so many people have been with their custom orders. I have been considering a custom order of 1000+ myself, but now may totally go with Pharaohs...........

Re: How much difference should there be (Custom) PC.Com Chips?

I missed the Pharaoh's Group buy by 2 days. I would have gotten them myself instead of the ASM's. I might even try to just return them all for a refund and buy the Pharaoh's at the current price. Although I did notice that the orange Pharaohs may have been a little thicker in a couple pictures.

Re: How much difference should there be (Custom) PC.Com Chips?

Just how many are "off"? The concern I would have is in using chip height to "count chips" (for all-ins where someone is covered, we just "line-em-up").

So if there's say, 20/1000 too big and 20/1000 too small, the chances of the too big/too small chips all being in one's person's stack is pretty slim and I wouldn't worry about it. A little variation, meh.

If there is a lot of variation such that it's gonna be a pain when you're playing, or trying to fit chips into a rack, or whatever, I might be more concerned....
