Chips: 264 | | | Denoms yuck!!! How come I know I should get denoms on my chips to make life easier for the boneheads, so in turn for myself, but I just do not like the way theu look.
Hate denoms is this a curse or am I by myself with this predicament.
Makes it hard to figure out labels with my problem.
I will never order those asm's |

Chips: 934 | | | Well, as of now my chips are label-less as are all the sets that I ever play with in my group of friends.
That being said, I'm about 99% certain that my next set of chips (or labels, if I go that route) will have denominations. I actually prefer the look with denominations.
Why is it making it hard to figure out labels? |

Chips: 264 | | Yes its making it hard to decide on labels.
I do not really like the look and they would be more versitile with out them.
I'm not sure what it is about denoms on labels but I just do not like them.
I know they are more convienent. |

Chips: 934 | | I guess you'll just have to buy another set of chips so you can have one with and one without.. hehehe.. |

I will never order those asm's | You are definately in the minority on this one. There have been several polls on this and it almost always comes out the same: 1/3 like no denoms and 2/3 like denoms.
Although I can see the arguement that they are more versatile, I would not agree that they look better. The other thing with non-denoms is you will always have questions about what is worth what.
BTW, I am in the denom camp ie the majority.

Chips: 164 | | | I am a denom guy, but there were a few weeks when I was in between sets and used some Faux clays and had no problems with people asking what they were worth. I also posted a little sign next to the blinds timer so people could check that.

Just kidding...
Actually I prefer to have denoms on several chips then a couple non denom to add versatility. Basically, unless your me and change the tourney structure every time you play, your going to use the same number and denom of chips (i.e. T1000, with 5's, 25's, 100's) so your guys might get used to it. But if you have different players all the time, you will get quickly annoyed with the questions.
This is just my suggestion.
oh I almost forgot....they're your chips do what you want with them. |

Chips: 934 | | | What has led me to strongly consider denoms on my next chips (or labels if I get them for what I have) is that most all the groups that I play with have some variety of the dice chips, but not always the same breakdown of colors and thus not the same values.
So... you end up playing at one house and getting the values confused with another. A sign MIGHT help, but that's more if you don't know the value. When you THINK you know the value, why would you look at a sign? Then, next thing you know you've bet $500 instead of $50. LOL |

AB | Found that out last year... my friends had bought sets of 500 & 1000 dice chips, and would just hand out racks (playing 1-2 NL). I went and bought chips with denoms, and after the first time they played with them, I was told to bring them to every game after that.
Now, I can't wait to see what they say when I break out the ASMs instead of the dice chips... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
