Mock-up for new Chipcos

Hi,

I've been working on this design for a few days now. Took me a little time to familiarize myself with AI and more revisions then I can count. I love the Tiki chips and Egyptians but my wife and my tastes tend to be more on the simple side (and I'm not that artistic). I will not be ordering the $1000 or $5000 denominations they are just examples of additional colors we like. The original design idea was to increase the number of edge stars as the denomination increased but it just got too cluttered and my wife really likes the stars lined up with the points of the center one. A note on colors, my wife hates black chips ($100) and the yellow ($500) doesn't work well with the design. I'm open to all comments and suggestions.

With smaller $ and ¢ signs.

9/15/05 - Edge mock-up (eyeballed so not exact). Larger font for "JONESY'S LONESTAR POKER". Removed dashes separating city, state from main logo. Color change for 25¢ and $500. Removed $1000 and $5000 Chips.

9/16/05 - Changed edges to add some diagonal spots. Added some depth to the center star. Changed font.

9/18/05 - Changed edges to all be on the diag and added the star highlight color to the edges and outer rim of chip. Increased font size of the denominations. Modified colors to more accurately represent Chipco colors (used eyedropper on Chipco color chart so may not be correct but they print closer to the sample chips I have).

9/19/05 - Removed little stars on edges. Widened face edge spots. Added shadows to the white rings to give the chip some depth.

9/25/05 - Decreased outer rim width since I removed the stars and don't need room for them. Increased size of center star and denominations. Increased font size. Changed highlight color on $1 chip to a darker blue. Changed the color of "JONESY'S LONE STAR LOUNGE" to the highlight color instead of the chip color. Changed the edge spots to be more unique from chip to chip.

Thanks everyone for all the great input!

I like simple designs myself but open to the others too. I like yours very much, can't think of anything I would change. I would use black for $100 but if yours is ok if you don't like black.

I think it might look better with a smaller dollar or cent sign, and the same size numbers in the middle. Also, maybe center the denom digits, I think that typically makes chips look better.

Nice and simple design. I agree that you should consider reducing the size of the dollar and cent signs. On the other hand there is more symmetry in the way it is now.

Here it is with the numbers centered

I think I like this better too. Gets a little tight in the higher denominations but I won't be ordering past $500 so it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the suggestions...keep 'em coming.

Your wife is on the simple side, just like your taste? I'm not sure I would have shared that...

Cool chips! (But why not the standard black color for the $100?)

It's a good thing her tastes are simple...she has two undergrad degrees, a PhD in molecular genetics, and a law degree...how I ended up with her who knows? No black chip because my wife doesn't care for them. It's my Christmas present and who ever gets the perfect gift?

Omigod I'm doomed, I never should have kidded around about her. First she's gonna sue me then she's gonna re-engineer my DNA so I turn into an ugly woman (with no boobs, of course, so my self-avatar will not be banned).

Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry....

Is your wife going to be playing poker with you? If it's your christmas present, get what you want....not what she wants.

LOL! Truth be know, I really don't care for black chips either. When I admit that though, I feel like I belong in a Milwaukee's Best commercial with an eight thousand pound beer can dropping on my head. Rest assured the chips are the way I want them. The wife does play most of the time and I respect her input, she has helped a lot to make these better than when I started.

Thanks for your concern. Now back to the chips...
