1950's Havana theme on the Diamond Square

My LAST set of custom chips (please ban me from this site after this order) is going to be a tribute to one of my favorite places - Havana.

In Havana, my favorite place to kick back with a stogie and rum is the terrace of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba. I was last there in February and I already want to go back! The hotel was built in the 30's and I love its classy old-school look and feel. The grounds around the hotel are awesome - lots of palms and other trees, kick ass view of Havana's malecon, and my favorite terrace.

Here are some pics of the Nacional:

Here are some Havana chips from the 50's:

Now that you have a better idea of the research I've done, please give me some input on my chip design and color choices.

My favorite chip is the Casino de Capri $100, so I'll be using black and retro lavender for my $100 chip. The other denoms will be $5 and $25 but I'm having a tough time deciding on the colors - do I want to go with traditional colors, or something new? If I go with traditional colors, for the $25 I don't want a grey base and I don't want a light green base with orange spots (I'm open to light green with other suggestions though). All spots will be 314.

Here are the non-traditional colors I was thinking of:

Here's the latest mockup:

Questions:

1. Do you like the top or bottom inlay design better?
2. Should the hotel image be black and grey, or should it be yellow/beige to represent the color of the hotel?
3. What colors should I use for the $5 and $25 chips?
4. Any other suggestions?

Thx

I like the top right one the best personally. It still looks classic, but the hint of color makes it pop while still being subtle.

Good luck with it, could be cool.

But if it doesn't show a clapped-out '57 Chevy, it doesn't make me think of Havana.

Re: Havana theme on the Diamond Square

I like the layout of the bottom row much more.

And if the pictured $100 chip is your favorite, why not use pink spots? It seems to me that it would better match the Capri $100

Very nice! I like the current mockup for chips/spots. For inlay I like the top and prefer the left (gray) over the brown.

I'm curious how the top left would look, if the background was the same tan as the top right.

Bottom. Grey. I would consider Habana with a "b" as that is how it is often spelled by native Spanish speakers (and was spelled that way on one of your example chips).

Nice idea and execution.

Re: 1950's Havana theme on the Diamond Square

Thanks all.

I was considering HABANA but I'm still undecided.

For some reason I really want to work color into the Hotel but I'm also leaning towards black and grey.

First pic below has adjusted colors, and I also put the taller and skinnier image of the hotel in the top left in the bottom left because i think it looks more detailed than the bigger image of the hotel:

Here's the pic of the mockups in the original thread so you can see color differences:

If you chose black and grey before, do these colors make you reconsider?

Overall I think the top design works best with my theme as it looks older-school than the bottom. But I really like the bottom too...what to do??
Thx
