Chips: 73 | | | News ASM Customs I'm getting another set of ASM customs (hopefully my last chip set I'll spend money on - otherwise my girlfriend will kill me )
The inlay will be about the ancient Rome (found someone helping me out here on CT)
After playing around a long time I decided to go for these (all 3D14 spots, but I like them best and the color combination looks great for me):

I would say, if this is going to be your last custom set for a while...exhaust the edgespot options. Especially since everything is available on a regular basis.

What do you think | Of course it's your set, so you ultimately have to like them, which means our suggestions could be worthless.
But, since you posted, you're asking for suggestions. Personally, I can't stand sets that use all 1 edgespot pattern. I think it's boring, and generally, looks cheap and terrible. Casino's don't do it, why would I? To me it looks like a cheap way to make a chipset.
Aside from that, the 3D14 and 4D14 are about my least favorite spots out there.
If it were me, I'd get a little more exciting and choose all different spot patterns. But, it's not me. |

Personally I'm not sure there's a correct color setup for a "classic Roman" chip set. I would say to switch up the inserts if it's going to be your last set for a while. If you're in love with the entire set using only 312 and 3d14 inserts you can try mix and matching the two also, having 312 for the lower three denoms and using a 3d14 for the higher two.

for example, the South Point chips all have the same pattern, so do the Caesar's tourney chips.
They all have single colored 414 (I think)

Chips: 2,150 | | | Re: News ASM Customs BTW this reminded me of SpaceMonkey's sets. He ordered his first set and designed it as a Greek theme back when only the 312 was being offered. He then went back and added on a bunch of different spots when ASM started to open their doors to CT members.
Notice that there's no colors in their that indicate it as a Greek theme, it's the inlays themselves and how they intertwine as a set. The inserts worked great as a 312's and this was probably the most beautiful set to have hit CT at that time. The new inserts worked just as beautifully and didn't take away from the theme at all.
So do what you want and order what you will be happy with. You're paying for them, not anybody else.

It doesn't matter what we think, what we'd order, or what we like. Your chips need to make YOU happy!

Chips: 36 | | | Re: News ASM Customs I'm not an idiot, and I do realize there are a few casino's who do this (the southpoint had already come to my mind). But, 95-99% of casino sets don't employ 1 pattern. Ceasar's tourney chips don't count, because tourney chips are normally very simple/plain to offset from the house chips.
Last I checked, the southpoint isn't the gold standard for casino's, or house chips for that matter Quote:

Hehe j/k I know they're not the same edgespots but I had to give you a hard time
FWIW there are quite a few casinos that use a single edgespot throughout their entire rack. Maybe they're smaller casinos and you think that edgespot:quality ratio is significant, but to be honest there's not a lot of reasons to vary the edgespots besides ultimate security...the kind of security that one doesn't particularly need in a home game environment. As a matter of fact I say it's about time we saw a set on here with all the same edgespots! WHO'S WITH ME!!
