Lil' Devils Ceramics (finalized)

Hi, ChipTalk.net members!

This is my first attempt on ChipTalk.net of a ceramics design.
Inspired a bit by the VERY beautiful Tikis
I'm still working on the other denoms but this should give u all a short overview...
Hope u all like 'em
Suggestions are very very welcome

Thanks for the suggestions and critics so far!

I hope more will come soon...

***UPDATE 1.3***

Ver. 3 of 1$ Design
Still needin' suggestions

[removed]

***UPDATE 1.5***

[Removed]

***UPDATE 1.6***

Changes:
-no scratchy gradinent background
-some light color changes on flames
-resized the flames, edgespot-design is on the way

***UPDATE Prototypes***

I printed some protos with the 1.6 Design to see how the will look like...
Semm that the denoms are readable.
I still did NO rolling edges... don't know why

UPDATE 02.12.

Finalised it at last and hope u like them

BTW: I LOVE 'EM

Greetings from Germany,

Dommel

Re: Little Devils Ceramics (1st attempt)

Welcome to CT Dommel,

since you asked for suggestions and criticism,I'll post some thoughts on these:

- the Denom will be very hard to read

- although I really like the theme, I think every chip has very much 'red'. Not sure how easy it will be to count them in a pot

- remember that colors darken a bit when printed on a chip. the black/red $100 will most likely be very hard to see/read

Just some random thoughts. I like the idea, I hope you keep enhancing them.

Re: Little Devils Ceramics (1st attempt)

I like the basic idea, try it without the flames around the edge I think they make it a little to busy. Maybe just have LIL DEVIL across the top or something. That should also give you room to make the denom more readable.

Re: Little Devils Ceramics (1st attempt)

Adding to wolfpack's thought about the flames - maybe put the flames on the rolling edge - since it's ceramic you have that flexibility.

I like the theme & the lil devil guy though

looking forward to seeing them progress

Re: Little Devils Ceramics (1st attempt)

I agree with everyone so far ... LOVE the theme. Little devil guy is dope!

Any chance of flipping your border around and have it "wrap around" the chip? I.e. it winds up being very close to the edge, and some of the flames wrap around the rolling edge to create your edgespots?

I don't see it as too much red, although these guys have more experience with this stuff than I do. The denominations do need to be bigger/bolder (and the main color of the chip) and that may compensate for the high red levels.

Re: Little Devils Ceramics (1st attempt)

Thanks for your critics and suggestions!

I updated the 1$ design.

@whataboutj: ty for your idea with the flames on the edge

As i'm printing my Chips myself i think i can handle the "wrap around" thing

Those look freakin' awesome! As others mentioned, you might want to try a beefier font to make your denominations stand out more. Skinny numbers are going to get lost in that graphic. Maybe some "kid" or "cartoon" font. See www.dafont.com for lots of free examples.

*EDIT* This one might work:

Re: Little Devils Ceramics (1st attempt)

Updated the 1$ again with a bigger font

THX to jdunford!!!

My only prob is with the flames...

I don't want to "kill" them 'cause i think that would kill the style

Maybe i'll resize them 1/2 of their size or something like that.

Suggestions and critics still welcome.

No problem. Happy I could help.

I like the flames... but (as somebody mentioned), if they're red on every chip, it'll be hard to tell the chips apart at a glance, especially in a big pot. I liked the blue flames on white for the $1. Basically, I think whatever colour you decide for your edgespot colour for each chip would make the best flame colour. I'd save the red flames for the yellow $1000 (that one looks best with red, imho). Having non-red flames gives them a sort of supernatural look anyway, which goes with the devil theme. I think blue, purple - even light green flames (maybe on the black chip) would look cool. Do what you want, but I'd probably go with a fairly ordinary:

blue on white (1)
black (or maybe white) on red (5)
light purple (or maybe light orange) on green (25)
bright light green (like "#00FF00") on black (100)
aqua (or maybe white) on purple (500)
red on yellow (1000)
