Designers' challenge

I'm loosely considering what to do with regard to a custom chipset. I want a classic look but not boring...also want to use clay chips. There are two avenues I've given the most thought.

My last name is Hedger so I've thought about about using a Hedgehog in a manner similar to the New Foundland and Antartica group buys. I had the nickname in grammer school and my 1 year old son has a cute Hedgehog shirt (which we've bought for the next 3 sizes he'll grow into). I've also considered using JCH or AWH (My initials and my son's initials) in some stylized fashion. Heck, if I want to spend money, I could use both with a front and back.

Here's the thing. As much as I appreciate and like 'classic'ness, it can be stuffy. And people know I like busy-ness and fun. (Heck, look at some of my protoge submissions). the Puffin and penguins from the custom group buys I mentioned--while I truly do think they look great--strike me as slightly stuffy. So I'm wondering if anyone would like to take a shot at capturing what I'm getting at here.

The closest I have to a solid 'vision' is with the Hedgehog. I think I see a heads-on view. seated at a poker table. Wearing a visor. Holding cards in one hand, fingering his chip stack in the other. I can't tell if he should have shades, look ahead in a blank but cute way, or if the eyes should be more animated in a stare down or evaluating manner.

As for a 'logo' of sorts, I'm thinking of "The Hedger House". I've also thought it might be fun to use "Wedger's House of Poker" or something using 'Wedger', which is a commonly-used-amongst-friends combination of my wife's last name (Wang) and mine. I'd still want to use JCH or AWH in some sort of stylized logo. Actually, if I went with a 'wedger' title, AWH would be best since Alexander is truly a 'Wedger'! (His middle name is Wang).

So is anyone's interest perked by this? I'd be willing to offer payment for a design I end up using although I don't know what a reasonable price is for such work.

Of course, I shouldn't even be inquiring about this given that I plan to partcipate in the Matsui GB. But.....there's always room for more chips, right?

Re: Designers' challenge

You and I could group buy this custom... I've also been known as Hedgehog...

wijwij was working up some designs for me... Here is the last he posted in the thread:

http://world.std.com/~wij/jpgs/hedgewood-fonts-2.pdf

We're waiting to see what the skinny is on the new ASM NO MOLD (i.e., will the inlay area be any bigger). Otherwise, I'm thinking of doing it on the H Mold...

EDIT: Wait, you were posting in that thread.

Oh yes, I remember seeing that. No offense, but that's a bit plain and simple for my own personal set. It's definitely very elegant and classy though. Hope it works out great!

PS: Yes, I was thinking an "H" mold was called for too.

Re: Designers' challenge

If you have a picture of that hedgehog you wanted to use, I could whip up a few designs. But unfortunately I've been out of the drawing game for a while now. That reminds me, I lost my graphic pen last time I moved. DANG IT!!

Do you mean a picture of a hedgehog or a sketch by my non-talented hands kind of showing what I'd like?
