Chips: 934 | | | Feedback please! Possible ceramic design Hey guys - long time, no post!
Awhile back, I somehow made the decision that my "dream set" was probably going to be ceramic, rather than clay (was kind of shocking, since I never really was interested in ceramics before).
At any rate, I wanted to post this design for some critique/feedback. Any feedback is good - love it or hate it, but constructive criticism or ideas to improve the design are most welcomed.
The design is the Austin, skyline.. This mockup does not have a border at all - I'm still trying to decide what direction I want to go with that. I'm not sure why the gradient disappeared on the road on the right column.. Also, I'm contemplating (based on some other feedback) a moon on the darker chips rather than a sun.
Thanks in advance!

I think that they'd make a spectacular ceramic set. Are we talking chipco or nj/brpro/chinese/etc/etc ? |

Chips: 165 | | | Re: Feedback please! Possible ceramic design I like 'em. It seems like something is missing, though. I don't know what, but I think I'm just not used to seeing a chip that if you took out the main graphic (the buildings), it would be nothing but a solid color face on the chip.
Cool idea.

Cool idea. | You know, I've had sort of the same feeling. I'll look 'em over once and think they're pretty much dead on what I'm wanting and then I'll look again and feel like they need a little more.
Actually, that's part of why I'm considering a border. If I do that, it will likely be something similar to the Tikis, with a pattern in a ring. I thought about doing pseudo edgespot patterns, too. Another possibility is some sort of pattern behind the graphic which might give it a little more pop.
Thanks for the feedback!

Cool idea. | I wonder if that's actually the reason that I like them so much. The image is of a big skyline with a big sky. Put that in a border and you have the view of a big skyline through a round window. I think it would lose something.
Just my thought |

They dont look enough like an actual chip, if that makes sense.
I cant get used to the cartoon like graphics either.
Sorry. Just my 2 cents |

I don't think you should put a border around the chips otherwise it would look like you were looking out of a window rather than just looking (as someone elses pointed out). The colours are very bright which is what I think makes ceramics a preference over clays for your design. They would also look fantastic as matsuis with the bright mould colours and designs.
I agree a moon instead of a sun on some of the chips - 100, 500, 5000 and Austin. Since you are going to have alternate designs what about changing the position (left or right) and height of the sun/moon. So you have views from noon on the 1 to dusk to midnight on the 100 to dawn and everything in between.
If you go ahead I'd be in for a sample set. |

It bothers me that only one chip has a currency symbol, the 25¢ chip. To me, it should be all or none. I realize 0.25 may not look as good, but what about "1/4"?

L | Yeah, the currency thing bothers me too, actually. I was thinking of just spelling out "QUARTER" possibly. I'm not too keen on the 1/4 idea - .25 might work, without the zero..
Thanks for the feedback
