The Scratch House was planned from the start of my custom chip adventure. I began planning the set at least two years ago, and finally got around to finishing the plan and ordering early DEC2011. The idea is based on the memories of all of the cats I have had in my life. The idea is a little sappy, but as soon as I mentioned the concept to my girlfriend, she was on board which was kind of important to me. The seven chips are colored in relation to the appearance of the cats. The overall fur color determined the base and the rest of the colors set the spots. Yes, I have many repeating colors, but I really wanted the set to closely tie into the theme. I ended up spacing the similar colored chips with demons as far apart as possible. The starting stacks and color-ups will keep the same color chips from seeing the felt at the same time.
The chips turned out so well, I still can't believe it. The bigger inlay (1-1/16") fits the recess of the E&C so well it is scary. For some reference I will post a picture of the cats. I tried to pick spots that suited the overall appearance of my old feline friends.
The set:
180 x 5 - Base: White - Spot 1: Charcoal - Spot 2: Black
180 x 25 - Base: Black - Spot 1: White - Spot 2: Bttrscotch - Spot 3: Chocolate
190 x 100 - Base: Charcoal - Spot 1: White - Spot 2: Grey
55 x 500 - Base: Butterscotch - Spot 1 and 3: White - Spot 2: Day Glo Orange
70 X 1000 - Base: Bright White - Spot 1: Charcoal - Spot 2:Grey
40 x 5000 - Base: Black - Spots - White
20 x Bounty - Base: Black - Spots - White
My favorite chip is the 25. It looks so great in a stack. Please post your favorite and or comments. I will start a contest thread for two sample sets.
