UPDATED: Philosophers' Cardroom PGI 8v MEGA PRON - NEW PICS IN OP!

The long wait is over. My chips have arrived and let me say this... They are georgeous. Almost perfect. My wife was a bit... Surprised by how many I got and if I'm honest it really is a bit absurd... so it may be a while till I get some proper pron up, but in the mean time I've got some iPhone pics to post (iPhone pics have been mostly removed in favor of Nikon 5100 pics).

But first my comments (after handling the chips for a few hours.
  • 1) The chips themselves are very nice. A bit dull looking at the moment but that's just because they need to be broken in. They stack very well and have that china clay sound. Ive not placed them side by side with my wallsons but they're definitely on the thicker side.
  • 2) the gloss labels are really fantastic. Very sharp printing and the non-textured look reminds me of RHC chips. The one down side is that the vinyl underneath the lamination is so thin that you can see the round indentation of the injection mark on one side of the chip. The textured lam does a good job of covering this up. Still on balance the clarity of the printing makes this a worthwhile trade off.
  • 3) the print quality is insane. The pics below don't do it justice as my iPhone sucks for macro shots. Every line is super sharp and the colors are pop off the label bright. You can see the wrinkles in the brain on the $5 chip and the individual oars on the ship of Theseus gracing the 5c chip. Really phenomenal job by the crew at PGI. Early in my mockup phase joe printed and scaned some of my mockups but he used some low res images which i had posted for comments . The print quality on those had me a bit worried. But my worries were misplaced. These are great labels. Thanks a ton Joe!
  • 4) The only problem that I've noticed so far is that whoever applied my labels did t look at the instructions for the $20 chip. I have like 70 dead cats and 20 live cats and all of my extra $20 labels are live cats. So I can fix the labels but I'd have liked to have some extras of the dead cat.

Ok enough from me on with the MEGA pron.

Enjoy!

Niiiice. Very nice. Bummer about the cat. Hope PGi don't stuff mine up too.

The images look brilliant. The purple and red are sooo bright (in a good way). The black and pink chips don't look as strong as I'd expected but like you say after they're broken in...

Bring on the stack shots!

wow, tttttttttttubby, these came out amazing. i can't wait to check out the sample set, but if they feel and look as awesome in person as they do in these pics, i might have to get in on round 2 at PGI and go with smooth labels. looking forward to more pics of these for sure.

Lookin' Good TTTubby! Nice idea and execution. I can tell the Palm labels are sharp even with the iPhone pics. Great job by Joe and crew, high end printers are the nutz...

Best of luck with them;

Those look great. Can't wait for the sample set. I like every chip in that set, tough to pick a favorite, but probably the $5 chip.

Great looking chips. Glad you finally got yours before you wigged out.

The gloss labels look great. I like them all, but I'll go with the dead cat $20 for my fav.

Hope they bring you luck.
