Can someone who has gone through the process of self custom order or group custom order (like SlowPlayRay) explain the logic better?
I've had the same experience. It seems like Dennis does his pricing based on the day and his mood. I've gotten price quotes of $1.45 and $1.90 for the exact same order, 700 custom clays with dual edge spots...

I have a feeling that he feels it really isn't worth his time and effort to do small runs like that so his quotes are artificially high to discourage them. They are probably lower on the days he feels like he wouldn't mind doing a smaller run.

That's all pure speculation though.

I am also considering doing custom TR King chip. I am not a graphic designer, but I have quite a few obsolete chips from real casinos and have a pretty good feel for what looks good. To me these chips feel and look way better than any others, with the possible exception of the Paulsons. I would rather have a chip that is a bit more unique than what you can get with Paulsons. It seems like Dennis is way more flexible and easy to deal with than Paulson.

What was the final count of this chip design? How difficult did it seem to get to 5000 chips? It does not seem like it would be that unreasonable........
I bought 100 chips to begin with, so I guess that qualifies me for the reorder. I can understand if people think security is an option but I personally don't play big stakes and only play with friends I know (and who are too poor to custom order these chips in the first place).

Yes, Dennis is a reasonable man. Anything can be done for the right price. If you've got the money, he's got your chips. There's no way in hell I'm spending $1.85 per chip though.

The final count was over 6000 chips I think for the custom kings crown.

I have spoken to Dennis and have also read in several threads that to get a reasonable price you need to order a minimum of 5000 chips. This is why I was curious as to how difficult it might be to interest enough people to come up with a total of 5000 chips.

We will just have to come up with a great design that is so tempting that we will get all kinds of orders.

$1.85 is what he quoted me for less than 1000 chips as well. I think coyote nailed it when they said it's just not worth Dennis' time to do a small run. A high percentage of total cost is in the manufacturing setup, so once he rolling on a particular order, he can just crank them out.

I did actually have more trouble than I thought getting enough orders for the group buy. We ended up at ~6,000 total, but for the longest time there was only a couple of us in for sure, and the other 90% were "maybes." I made a lot of concessions to other members of the group buy regarding color choices (although I am extremely happy w/ all but one of the outcomes) in order to maintain enough interest. Finally I set a deadline for commitments, and lo and behold, we had enough!

Just got this email from dennis over at TR KING, hopefully it will clear up any questions people have about a possible custom order they are considering.....

Hi Dennis (if thats who im talking to),

I have been considering getting a custom clay set for awhile now and had my mind made up until i was recommended to your site by a buddy of mine on a poker chip form. He said that you guys make beautiful clay inlayed chips that are fully customizable so i just have a few questions for you guys...

1. is it possible to customize the number, color and width of edgespots on the chip?
2. is the inlay custimizable by either myself or a in-house graphic artist?
3. what is the wait time for a custom order from start to finsh?
4. what would the estimated cost be for about 1500 chips with edgespots and a multicolored inlay? Would the price go up or down in i orderd more or less chips?

Thanks so much,

Jared

Dear Sir, Thank you for your inquiry. 1. Edgespots could be customized, but the tooling costs would be very expensive. We have a number of spots from which to choose. 2. Inlay can be customized by you. Art must be within a 15/16" circle and up to 4 color process. 3. Wait time depends on quantity. About 8 weeks. 4. Estimated cost for 1500 chips would be $1.60 each. Price goes up for less and down for more. Sincerely, Dennis ONeill, G. M.

I bought it on eBay for $100 shipped - I don't have the link handy but I got it from this site, if you hunt around you should be able to find it. 5stardeal.com and holdempokerchips.com both sell the same exact case, and I cannot recommend it highly enough, I have gotten soooo many compliments on it already!

My question is what channel musicchoice are you listening to?

I also can't believe that you are just now registering here. We know you have severe chip addiction. What took so long?
