Chips: 292 | | | BCC "CK" Hotstamp Chip Pics... Hey everyone. After Damon posted pictures of his BCC cash set, I then got the itch to get my own tournament set. In this fashion, it was much more affordable than my own custom stamps, or inlays, so I decided to go this route. I put denominations on one side, and my initials "CK" on the other. The denominations are the TRK Numbers with no currency symbol The letters, I'm not sure. Mike sent me a bunch of sample letters, and this is the one I picked. My only concern with this set was the colour contrast between the black and the grey. I was assured by someone here that it wouldn't be a problem, and they were right! Here's a bunch of pictures, as I just finally was able to find a digital camera to use. The chips came a few weeks ago, but finding a camera was difficult. One picture is a T50,000 starting stack I'm tentatively planning to use for a Tournament of Champions event, and some normal T5,000 stacks for regular events. I have no plans to oil the chips as I'm sure they'll get better with time. Anyway, enjoy!
Almost forgot, the breakdown:
260 x Dark Green 25's
260 x Black 100's
140 x Lavender 500's
100 x Arc Yellow 1,000's
60 x Grey 5,000's
820 Chips total
Update: May 6, 2008. After some peer pressure by fellow Chiptalkers, I decided to oil the chips. This took place over the weekend. I used the shoe polish applicator method as described by wijwij. I was unable to just "stamp" the chips as they seemed to stick to the applicator. I instead picked up every chip and did both sides at once, and then left to sit for a while. I then went back and wiped down every chip, and was sure to wipe the edge to ensure it had some oil. The chips were probably not left to dry long enough, and are rather greasy, but I feel this is likely to go away with play. They will be used in a bar tournament next Thursday night, and I hope they'll be a big hit! Anyways, here's some pictures of the freshly oiled chips! Enjoy!

Here's the timeline I tried to keep track of: February 7, 2008 – Call to BCC, Mike will send out information tomorrow February 11, 2008 – Mike sent me pictures of type styles February 20, 2008 – Was sent an invoice, with errors February 21, 2008 – Was sent a correct invoice…Sent Payment April 5, 2008 – Was notified the chips were ready…Sent Payment April 12, 2008 – Received no tracking number, but did receive the chips
When they told me the chips were ready, they said they'd send a tracking number, but that never happened. Oh well, at least they got here! As far as the Arc Yellow, I love it! I think it blends well with the Grey and Lavender, and is an overall bright colour for such an important denomination. It was kind of based on the 1000 chip at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN, that I like to play at. I couldn't emulate their Maroon 5000 chip, so I went with Grey. My only beef at all, is that the Arc Yellow chips do not stack as well as the other colours. They are slightly wobbly, but not to the point of not being functional. For my first set of clay chips, I feel this is acceptable, as when you stack them tightly together, you wouldn't know!
I have to say, I've always been a big fan of ceramics, but once you get your first set of real clay, it's truly an amazing feeling I was missing with ceramics. I'm not saying I won't get a ceramic cash set, but these clays are something special!

These look really nice. There really is something about hotstamp solids that really gets the ol' ticker going.
I do agree... oil these for the love of all that is right in the world! You'll get to spend some quality one on one time with them that way.
Then post more pics!
Thanks for sharing your new babies. Enjoy them and win big with them. |

Chips: 274 | | | Re: BCC "CK" Hotstamp Chip Pics... You'll love them even more once you oil them. It'll make the colors really pop. Plus they look so nice all spread out.
It's kinda tough to tell in the last pic due to flash, but it makes a huge difference on the chips.
Using wijwij's method that he discovered is a piece of cake for oiling chips.
