Concorde Cardroom labeled Paulsons *PICS*

Candy time!

I've had these for a while now, but today was the first time they saw play. All the chips were previously roulette chips, yellow, green and orange from John Ascuaga's Nugget. The brown ones were apparently practice chips somewhere, but the color matches with chips that were (are?) also used at the Nugget. I've got 100 of each chip, but some are still under construction.

I got 2 mil vinyl labels (24mm in diameter) from Palm Imports and they fit the chips' recess very nicely. The chips could take a slightly larger label but they would have been a pain to apply.

The guys I play with commented on how nice these chips feel. They've been playing with my Samurais and custom ASM's, so it's not a comparison to dice chips. Can't beat real casino Paulsons I guess.

Thanks for looking!

Excellent looking chips!!! Glad to see someone else who isn't afraid to take the plunge and label Paulson casino chips

Questions: did the original chips have a hot stamp (I assume so since you said they were roulette chips). Assuming they did have a hot stamp did you sand the stamp down before you labeled them?
Thanks
J

Thank you sir!

The chips did have hotstamps, but the yellow, green and orange chips were so used that the remaining stamps pretty much came off during the cleaning. They were dirrrrrty! (Pic taken by the seller.)

I've used non-acetone nail polish remover on the brown chips, but contrary to what I've read here, even that will dissolve the chip so one has to be careful when doing that. I might give sanding a try for the remaining brown chips.

Thanks for the additional pic. I was asking about sanding because I know from another memebr (Stevo) having labled some hot stamped Pauslons that the indentation from the hot stamp may be felt through the lablel (and show as bumps) if you don't sand them down to be smooth. It looks as if the chips you labeled may have already had the stamps worn down already - so no need to sand them smooth.

Nice Job! I've got over 1000 solids that I'm getting ready to do something like this with, can't wait. They will be the only Paulson set I have in play now after going all custom in the last 3 years getting rid of all of the other Paulson sets I had.

Great to see a reclamation job like this come out so well!

Congrats, and best of luck with them.

Did you apply over a stamp or inlay? If stamp did you sand it down at all?

Thanks guys! I happened to have some laundry detergent with the same stuff that oxiclean uses (can't get oxiclean here afaik) and soaking the chips in a solution of that overnight did the trick. The gunk came loose (scrub scrub scrub) and I gave the chips a light oiling afterwards.

Stamps. Only the brown chips had stamps that didn't come off during the cleaning and I used non-acetone nailpolish remover on those (carefully though, it eats the clay too).

I'm telling you... Use Natural Enzyme Drano Max.... I used it about a year ago after trial and error to remove hotstamps from 300 vintage ASM's. I wasn;t happy with the non-acetone nial polish either. Destroyed 35 or so in the process.

I just soaked them for 24+ hours, used a crest electric toothbrush to scrub them and the hotstamps dissolved right off like butter.. Just make sure you give the chips a good oiling after you're done. The Drano really zaps the moisture out of the chips. The perk right up with some mieral oil though.

Great labeled chips by the way.
