I started planning this set last May, and it's still not completely finished. But I will post a few pictures and discuss the set now anyway since there seems to be interest for it. I'll add new pictures once the whole ~1100 piece set is done. Development thread:

Originally I wanted a budget MTT set, and prior to this my only poker chips had been 200 dice chips. After looking around I decided on the Super Diamonds with labels, even though I was aware these chips have no recess. The whole budget thing sort of went out the window a few weeks later, when I felt it necessary to have a deep stack MTT set with plaques... I was able to cut down on the cost of custom plaques by coming up with a way to make my own, more on that in a bit.
The chips are not the 'better kind' of Super Diamonds, but I think they are still good for the money. I bought them from Discount Casino Gear, and originally my green ones were the 'better kind', so I had to get new ones that matched the rest of the set (
problem #1). Hog Wild made the labels on his 2 mil vinyl, but unfortunately this happened when he was experiencing trouble with his printer and most of the labels didn't come out right. So he had to redo them, and I finally received proper labels many weeks later (
problem #2). Turned out that even with the 2 mil labels, the Super Diamonds not having a recess is an issue. The labels of course affect stacking, but the bigger problem was that they stuck together, and this seemed to increase with added heat/humidity (
problem #3). I have managed to solve this by spraying labeled chips first with hairspray and then with a fabric protector, giving them a nice, almost teflon-like coating. After the coating and some use, the labels don't seem to stick to each other anymore. I must admit I was almost ready to give up on this set due to the obstacles I encountered, but now I'm glad I didn't.
The plaques are not solid pieces of plastic, but so far everyone who has handled them thought they were. They are actually made from credit card sized plastic cards, which I have glued together. The top cards have obviously been printed on. Because of this layered design, I was able to implement edgespots for the plaques, so people can tell them apart when they are stacked. Another option would have been to use different colored plastic cards, but I found black & white edges to be more classy. I think the plaques ended up costing me $2-$3 each, which isn't too bad I guess. They are pretty sweet. No issues with the plaques, except it's a pain to glue 340 plastic cards together nicely.
Even though I've had plenty of work putting this set together and I never use it at home due to my Samurai Palace chips, it is wonderful for MTTs. Plastic chips are perfect for hard tables and players who fumble their chips, and some stacked plaques add a ton of class to the final table. I'm adding custom dealer buttons (by Palm Imports) to the set, I guess the only thing left then would be custom playing cards...

Edit 1
Here are some close-ups of the plaques. The art looks a bit grainy, but you wouldn't be able to see that with the naked eye. The surface tends to show fingerprints, like on the 25k plaque. The slight smudging on a few of the 5k plaque-edges is caused by some of the glue escaping from between the cards. That stack of 25k plaques looks suhweet, makes me wish I was the chipleader...
