This gave them a more uniform color without the blotchiness. I started with powder dyes, but found the liquid dye worked better. My dye solution was just like everyone elses. I would use a 1/2 gallon of water, one cup vineger, and about 4 tbs of dye the first boil and then add one more to the solution for the second boil. I did make some custom colors, for example, my greens are about 1/2 kelly green and 1/2 yellow. I didn;t like the kelly green alone. I also custom made my purple mixing blue and pink dye. My pinks also have a very tiny amount of blue just to soften them up a bit. I added maybe 5 drops of blue to the Rose pink. This way they have some difference from other people's chips. My yellows are regular yellow. My reds are just scarlet red. I did add just a couple drops of royal blue to the light blue solution just to darken slightly. It was time consuming, but I wrote down how much of what dye for each color so I could repeat. Like my greens, reds, pinks, blacks, and light blues were dyed in batches of 100. When I did the second 100 they came out exactly the same color as the first. It just takes a little time to measure everything out, but if you are making more than 100 of any color it pays to take that time if you want them turning out the same every batch.
