Chips: 177 | | | Casino Dino (PI Clay) - Warning Lotsa Pics! New Denoms added! 5/30/07 Update:
Got 400 more chips including new 25c, $2 and $25 chips! See below!
New 25c, $2 and $25 chips - The $25 looks pretty awesome!!!
Note: I oiled the chips. I think they need to be oiled since they're a bit chalky out of the box. By the way, they feel and stack great! I did notice that they're slightly thicker than my Pharaohs because I can fit 50 Pharaohs to a cove (I have a custom box), but the Wallsons I can only put in 49 to a cove.
Here's a link to my poker chip cases if you're interested for more detailed shots: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...ht=casino+dino
My chip breakdown (for 25c/50c nl):
100 x 25c (on order 100 more)
150 x 50c (on order 50 more)
250 x $1 (on order 50 more)
50 x $5 (on order 50 more)
50 x $10
**********
100 x $2 (on order)
50 x $25 (on order)
Total Current: 600 chips
Total Final: 1000 chips
Here's a link to the original mock-up pics, I think it came pretty close, don't you think? http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/custom...oms-added.html
Thumbnails of actual Casino Dino poker chips. I think the color matching can be improved just slightly (especially the orange) but otherwise I think they turned out awesome.

Chips: 69 | | | Re: Casino Dino (PI Wallsons) - Actual Poker Chips Nice. I like the shaped inlay labels and good color match except the orange but it still looks good. I'm liking these Wallsons more and more. |

I ordered around 400 more chips that has a new $2 chip and a new $25 chip, but I also ordered a modified 25c chip with a red inlay rim color with a round inlay. I notice that as long as the inlay is more symmetrical (as in rounder, more points, more shells etc.) the eye will be more forgiving of color mismatches. The Wallson chip can definitely be still improved in terms of quality manufacturing (slight cracks and paint splotches), and I'm sure that as the Chinese sell more of these and refine their manufacturing process, they can iron out these kinks pretty fast. I mean, it's pretty damn good now! Shouldn't take a big leap to make it almost perfect! |

CONGRATS! | I think a shaped inlay really makes it work. I just used the standard shaped inlays (faux-shaped inlays as we call them) but later on I realized you could make different inlays by overlapping/rotating shaped inlays over each other. For my future $25 chip I thought why don't I overlap 2 pentagons and come up with a 10 point shaped inlay. Maybe PokerChipLounge/PalmImports already had one of those but I forwarded that request to Dave, and voila - no problem, and it looks really good (at least on the mockup!). I'm not an artist and don't have a lot of time myself, so it's awesome to work with Dave and Joe on getting my ideas to mock-up quickly. |

Chips: 458 | | | Re: Casino Dino (Wallsons - PI Clay) - Actual Poker Chips I really like these... nice set.
I have a bunch of the PI solids that I bought for a tourney set, and am leaning more and more towards doing a combination of solids and walsons for my cash set as well (vice ceramics.) Posts like this are making it a little easier of a decision, but I am still anxiously awaiting my prototypes to get here.
Couple quick questions... do you like the laminate on the inlay? Does it go over the entire face of the chip or just over the inlay in the recessed area? Affect stacking at all?
Thanks, and again, Nice! |

Thanks, and again, Nice! | I can't imagine these chips without the lamination! It gives it a little texture and protective coating that makes the chip seem that much better. I think the lamination just covers the inlay and not the entire face of the chip, as I don't feel or see the lamination on the actual chip surface. It doesn't affect stacking at all. If you wait a day or two, I should be able to post pics of some smaller stacks. There is no comparison between the PI inlay and the vinyl labels. I have vinyl labels on my ProClays and although the label graphics turned out perfect, it just doesn't feel as good as the PI inlay.
You have to bear in mind that even though I rave about these Wallsons, I still think my Paulson Pharaohs are a level or two higher than my Casino Dino Wallsons, but to get something customized for 59c each, fast mockups+delivery, plus a good-looking, good-sounding chip - these babies can't be beat!!!! |

Chips: 16 | | | Re: Casino Dino (Wallsons - PI Clay) - Actual Poker Chips Love these chips! Truly an excellent job. I am planning on a creating a custom ceramic set, but to be honest these are making me second guess that decision.
A few stupid questions from a newbie. - Did poker chip lounge apply the labels for you as partof the 59 cent price?
- If so, were you pleased with their results?
- Are all of the labels applied consistantly? (i.e. with the same allignment in regards to edge spots) Not even sure if this matters.

| 1. They applied the labels.
2. I am quite pleased with the labeling results, but please read my comments on the color matching - some improvements can still be made. Also please don't expect a perfect chip - there may be some cracks or paint splotching. See some of my photos to see if you can find any (not that many).
3. The labels will not be aligned perfectly with the edgespots. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
