This is my offical first post, but ive been looking for quite some time. ive seen all the threads about dyed faux clays so i did my own in golden yellow, fushcia (sp?), and cocoa brown. i had scarlet dye too but only did a batch of 20 with those. since they look almost exactly alike the original red FC's i tried to spruce them up a little bit. i just rubbed the chip on wet sandpaper until the white showed through.
thanks for the comments...i only did a test batch to see how they came out, so im not sure if i would do it to the rest because A) its time consuming. and B) if you wanted a complete set with edgespots, you would have to buy only whites and dye them all. i bought the greens and blacks for my tourney set (the rest white to dye) so if you could buy them the color you want why waste the time and money to dye them colors readily available (unless you wanted to do the edgespots) bottom line, only the dyed chips would have edge spots and the others would be solid, which would drive me CRAZY
Great idea, gets me thinking. How about creating a template and sandblasting something on the face of a dyed chip for a contrast in color. What ever happened to the guys who were lasering chips? Those turned out great and estimated cost seemed very reasonable.
sigh, that looks so good it bothers me. you know with the work everyone puts into dying and now adding spots to fauxs, you could just work a little overtime at your job and, you know, buy REAL CLAYS
